I just want to say this forum is a minefeild of mind boggling information of facts and questions that no JW is ever going to receive at a Kingdom Hall
by smiddy ini thank you for this site , and all the people who contribute to it with their knowledge and input into it.. subjects need to be discussed , and different ideas need to be considered , and debated .
that is healthy for the mind.. the wtb&ts dictates what their members are to beleive and no questioning is tolerated.
that is unhealthy to the mind.

Trying to handle my JW mom
by KatyMomof2 inmy mom is a recent widow.
she, being a jw does not have means to support herself and does not seek higher education ( because that would take from her studies ).
so, she is living ( sponging off of ) me.

Welcome to the forum. I am glad to hear you are a good mom and want to protect your kids from cult thinking. Do what is right for your kids. Your mom has to play by your rules.

What is the most damning watchtower publication?
by zound ini want to purchase a couple of vintage watchtower publications to help in my helping jw's break free.
some of the older ones are expensive or hard to come by - i know you can buy them on cd's but i'd like to own one or two of the "classics of propaganda"- some of the ones that speak for themselves as to the ridiculousness of this religion.. of course any magazine i pick up today speaks to me of the ridiculousness, but you need something much more hardcore for the jw's.. any recommendations?.

The Revelation Climax book was the one that truly convinced me how delusional the Watchtower Society was. They apply a lot of Scriptures to themselves. It is preposturous.

What is your experience when you stop turning in time?
by gingerbread infor the past year or so, i've been turning in just one or two hours of service time.
it has been mentioned to me from an elder "friend" that i'm never seen at any meetings for field service.
i get his implication.

My elders called and asked for time and when I told them I didn't have any time there was dead silence for a few seconds and then they said
"OK" in a kind of dead sounding voice and that was it. -

by Gojira_101 inlast week a friend of mine contacted me out of the blue asking if we could have lunch together.
my friend has been studing with the jw's on and off for about 11-12 years i think.
she has told me everytime i see her that she can't wait for jehovah to end this evil world...she can't wait for the new system...the end is so close....etc.. i sent her a message back telling her that i left the jw's and asked her if she had heard that.

I wanted to punch this elder so bad!
by OneDayillBeFree inso i decided to attend the meeting last.
since i haven't gone in about 2 weeks, and i leave as soon as it ends, and elder decided to corner me at the end.
lately i've been through some very depressing family issues that are non-jw related so i haven't been my best at acting like i care about the org.

This elder is a bully but I bet you he backs off. I would skip meeting permanently from now on. He won't want to go head to head with you now that he knows you won't be submissive to him.
Good for you, standing up to him but not really showing him any of your cards.
