My poor mother in law and father in law were both disfellowshipped for smoking in the 70's when it first became a disfellowshipping offence. Being the self righteous Jehovah's Witnesses we were we didn't talk to them. They had three children and four grandchildren that they never got to see. I now feel very guilty that we were so cruel. They would complain about it and were clearly in pain, but we wouldn't soften our stance. They are dead now and there is no going back. I am so sorry for our unloving behavior.
They were both smokers when they got baptized and didn't think it was fair that the Watchtower Society changed the rules on them. None of us kids wavered and we told them to obey the Society and quit smoking. They had both smoked since their teen age years and were hopelessly addicted.
Such a cruel policy and so unloving.

Awkward moment at the WT study today
by FadeToBlack inwhen we got to paragraphs 10,11 with the reference to the box at the top of the page - is your teaching up-to-date?
the conductor asked for an explanation of what the current 'bible truth' was.
for the first one, 'this generation (matt 24:34) absolutely nobody raised their hand!

The reason they were all so quiet is they all know that current "truth" is ever changing and most jw's can't keep up.

Apostate?
by EmptyInside ini was wondering if i would be considered an apostate for posting on this board.
i don't speak against the organization to any witnesses.
i do talk candidly to other inactive ones who feel the same way.

whathappened
According to the Watchtower Society, anyone who does not accept all of their teachings, even those unique to the Watchtower Society is an apostate.
You must accept everything they say when they say it, otherwise you are an apostate.
Even beliefs that are true and can be proven true are apostate if they go against the WBTS or cast a bad light on them.
Posting on this site is definitely a big no no.

Whats the most damning of the July 15 2013 changes?
by Crazyguy ina lot of the rank and file at the meetings seem to think some of the changes make more sense but what is the most damning of the changes that may help to wake to some up.
some thing the rank and file will not first see or understand as a big deal?.

To me it is the fact that up till 5 minutes ago, basically, they were wrong about their entire faithful and discreet slave interpretation. They have been teaching falsehood as true doctrine all this time...for almost a century. What a load of you know what!!! Obviously, they are making this religion up as they go. How knows what is next to be changed. I am out and never returning.

What about your vow to Jehovah?

why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?

Jehovahs Witnesses do not teach a balanced view. They teach what the Watchtower Society believes, not what the Bible teaches. One is not allowed to read anything "secular" that is printed by non Watchtower source. You will find there is so much that they don't mention.
Take for example historical Jesus. Google "Jesus Never Existed" and get the shock of your life.
Read "The Atheist Book of Bible Stories." Another eye opener. You will learn things you will never read in the Watchtower and with proof to back everything up.
