Since I left the "flock" two and a half years ago, I have reconnected with disassociated and disfellowshipped family members. They were so relieved to learn ttatt. All these years they felt bad about themselves, like they had turned their backs on god himself. Now they realize they were in a false religion and are happy to be free.

i wasnt mature or intellectually honest enough to "wake up" while still an active witness.
(i applaud those who have awaken while active; that is mental rigour i wish i had!

by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inover the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

several sources have confirmed to me that in the kendall lakes congregation they had 11 new partakers at the memorial this year.
in a nearby hall they had 6 new partakers.

Letter from and to my JW Niece

she's a very creative and lovely person, but she's the only other family member i have who's a jw.
her mother got booted out for smoking, and her brother just seems to know it's a bunch of crap.. on fb, i posted a funny status update that went something like this: "my mother brought me up and hoped that i would grow into a career that would fulfill her dreams.

Week of worry
by gma-tired2 inmy husband and i have had a long week worrying we would lose our niece, and yes the blood issue was very much part of the problem.
it is new to us to actually have the blood issue affect our family, but it really makes you think.
we would have immediately given her blood, but she and husband are still jws.

by *lost* inon an old thread (10 yrs) i found an interesting comment by aguest.. satan was hurled down from heaven to go and wage war with the remaining ones of her 'seed'.. he doesn't know who is a 'seed' unless and until such a one exposes oneself.. so 'his' war is against all of mankind and his tactic is to use mankind against one another.. .
we are supposed to have tender affection and brotherly love for one another,.
no matter what race, religion, sex, status etc.. the account of the good samaritan taught us that.. .

Lawsuit maybe?
by KariOtt ini would love to file an emotional distress lawsuit of some sort against the wt.
since my husbands return envolvement 2 years ago my documented mental health problems have gotten steadly worse.
this past weekend i started drinking after 17 years sober, a sucicide attempt that put me in a private psych hosiptal.

Fathers Day, not sure what to do

told me that i'm never welcome to his house ever again because he wants to protect "his family" from me.

What would make you happy? Would you feel better sending him a loving short note? The note may make him feel bad, but may awaken the reality of the gross sacrifices he is making to appease the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses, who don't care how much pain and suffering their followers have to bear.

2013 Drama: "Show Yourself Attentive"
by breakfast of champions inthis is the first of three "dramas" this dc, and i have to say, it was one of the weirdest dramas ever.
i won't go through all the details.
maybe someone else wants to throw in their 2c.. it starts out with two men standing on the "beach" talking, but it took me awhile to figure out what in the hell was going on.

Oblivious to Father's Day

life's been having its ups and downs, but that's a subject for another day.. anyway, this year i thought it would actually be nice to spend father's day with my kid.
his mom usually has him for sundays and for past father's days, i didn't mind because he was still kinda too young to realize what the day was about.
