I think your mother is in for a surprise. When the time of real need arises, few witnesses help another out of their need. Oh they say they will, but it never really happens. We found this out when our elderly mother went into the nursing home.

Who still goes to meetings and out in field service?

just curious as to who on here still regularly attends meetings and goes out in service?

as i sit at the district convention i can't help but think who else out in the crowd is just like me.

I quit cold turkey December 2010. Love my new life. Jw's shun me, but my daughter still lets me come see her as long as I don't bash the Society.

I look back now and realize now there were a lot of witnesses that were not whole souled. Different ones would make little comments that shocked me at the time, but make sense to me now.

Look for those who have funny looks on there faces or look miserable. You can hang out with these people, maybe?

I am heartbroken for the both of you. Such a waste of precious time and a precious mother and son relationship. She feels she has to do this in order for you to come back into the fold and get everlasting life. She truly believes this is an act of ultimate love. She thinks she will call you to your senses.

I am so sorry. This must be incredibly painful. She really does love you but she is just brainwashed by the Watchtower Society. Let's hope she awakens before too much time goes by.

I really need some help to get out of this religion

hi, i've been lurking on this site for quite a while after recently having doubts about the "truth".

i've read a lot of posts about problems with the doctrines, mind control, the beliefs, brainwashing that jehovah's witnesses and their literature, as well as their history.

now only being a sixteen year old born in who isn't baptized or unbaptized, i've come to find all this information incredibly overwhelming.

we have been having 2 home bible studies a week for over 4 months now and we started going to the kingdom hall 3+ months now.

i am enjoying my studies and the brothers and sisters are wonderful .

Dont just study what Jehovah's witnesses say, read what others who are not Jehovah's witnesses have to say.

A Brief History of Racism in Watchtower Publications

i've just completed a lengthy article on the history of racism in the society's publications.

many people (including myself, until recently) aren't aware that the society's early publications were brimming with racist rhetoric, and this only calmed down as the public mood towards racism changed, most notably with the civil rights movement in the 50s/60s.. a few "headliners" from the article are:.

russell segregated blacks from whites for viewings of the photodramarussell believed that the skin of a black man would turn white during the millennial kingdomunder russell, the society's publications portrayed the black races as "degraded" and the white race as "superior"rutherford viewed the blacks as a "race of servants", and spoke of "sobering the southern negro" in an article against prohibitionunder rutherford, the golden age slammed uncle tom's cabin (a work that helped end slavery) as being "the work of satan"; the same article branded spaniards a "backwards race"rutherford accused "jewish business men" of "oppressing the peoples of many nations"in 1929 the golden age (acknowledged by the society as essentially the same magazine as the modern awake!

Wow, this is some damaging information about the Society's past. I wonder when it was that Jehovah changed his mind about racism? At least the black race wasn't annihilated by Jehovah like so many other national groups in the old testiment. Soon, Jehovah's Witnesses can look forward to 7 billion people of all races being permanently destroyed. They will then be happified.
