so i noticed something the other day on facebook.. a group of "sisters" in several neighboring congregations got their young daughters together for a "girls day", to spend some quality time together.
now this group, of whom i know many, is composed mainly of elders' and ministerial servants' wives.
the general theme, or focus of the "party" was to build gingerbread houses with the kids.. ok, no big deal right?
My daughter and son in law (both claim to be devout JWs) go to his parents house on December 25th and eat a nice fancy dinner and they all have presents for one another wrapped in winter themed (not Xmas) gift wrap. They also get together on Thanksgiving for an elaborate dinner (not celebrating at all, you see).
One poster on Facebook Ex JW Recovery Group said this was celebrating "fractions" of Xmas so it was OK. I loved that idea!!!
i continue to be saddened by the fact that i am married to such a selfish man.. i want to know if i am the only wife who has no say when it comes to using the house she lives in for activities including other people.. .
let me explain.. yesterday my daugher who is 35 got a new puppy for my grandaughter who is 13. today my daughter and son in law are going to help my uncle at a job, and my granddaughter wanted to spend the day here, my daugher said shed bring her and the puppy over, i laughed and said 'your dad wont have that, ill have to go to your house'.. after all it will 'upset' the 2 cats they will hide all day [like they do anytime someone including my grandchild is in my home] .. i already knew that he would not like it if she brought the puppy over, [weve had dogs so its not like he hates them].
he doesnt care if his grandaughter would have enjoyed playing with the puppy over grandmas house, where she likes to be for a change, and that fact that id like to see what my cats would do when they saw a dog for the first time in thier lives.. maybe id have liked to play with the puppy .. when i said to my husband that my daughter said she wanted tp bring them over he said.
You are a survivor and just try to find the most happiness for yourself as you can. Maybe if you could get your hubby to lighten up a bit...he sounds like he is no fun to be around.
wow, i just discovered this.. out of the sea of ex-jw videos on youtube this wonderful vid came to my notice.. she uses humor, parody, and actual wt quotations to make her points far better.

you can't move forward to a new, more interesting, possibly much happier life, if you're still looking behind at the former life.. there is so much obsession on here about what the wtbts is doing, and discussing all the forms of injustice and bullshit in the wtbts, or how to bring down the wtbts.
yes, their doctrines are crazy and they are a cult and cruel to boot.

My beautiful daughter (age 36) and my 6 year old grandson is still in this stinking religion and I will never quit my anti JW activities till I extricate everyone I can from the evil cult!
my husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .
just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .
it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

Ponce you are convinced the JWs are NOT the true religion, go to YOUTUBE and type on atheist humor. Spend a delightful afternoon watching as many videos as you can. Julia Sweeny has a great one too. Problems and questions are all solved (for me at least)! It wasn't easy giving up God, but it solves the mystery of why god's ways are so mysterious...he doesn't exist!

your countries human rights legislation will conversely uphold your rights when it comes time to abandon any religion you so choose.
those (elders) who incite others interfere, coerce or persecute those who have left will be in transgression of the human rights statutes.. a person is only obligated to ecclesiastic law if he exposes himself to it or transgressed it while still a member of a religious community.. when your time comes to abandon the jw-wt cult, do it while still in good standing, be proactive - be decisive -put it in writing!..and do it before the hounders set sights on you.. write a card or letter with as much or as little explanation as you one day might wish to share with pharisees and lawyers.. take this card to a notary public to have your signature witnessed and have the writing overstamped in several places with the date.

a brother was appointed recently in the cong, he's got a dodgy history, doesn't really have the respect of many in the cong.
it's surprising to me, but i don't really care, good for him.

I would say that you know of much worse men who were appointed than this guy...then act like the details are too horrible to tell her and that you could get in trouble for telling her...sneaky.
If pressed, just tell her about some of the stories you've read here and say you can't mention names or it would be gossiping.
