Wasblind, I wasn't calling you out...I just remembered that this privious thread shows the true WT view on helping to poor and needy. The scripture in Matthew talks about physical needs not spiritual...and each true Christian is reponsible for helping the needy.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses feed the starving in third world countries
by Gnosis in.
or do they only help their own members ?.
is there anything in their publications that seems to cast a negative view on feeding the poor ?.

My brother visited the branch in Benin and during his visit a child needed hospital treatment for a life-threatening desease that already killed a sibbling. The parents couldn't afford the treatment and the child was going to die. My brother asked the brothers at bethel what could they do to help and the reponse was that it was up to him to help...that if the WT didn't have the funds to help those who are sick...all that was needed was $500 and my brother paid it to save the child's life. The sad part is that this experience has not rattled my brother's faith in the WT.

The following link explains the WT's view on charity. They would rather collect funds to buy and renovate buildings or acquire land to built buildings they can eventually sell for a profit. It's like multi-level-marketing where the product is only an excuse to attract members to join your scheme...

Day's almost done for me. Went out for breakfast (while wife was at the meeting) read my newpaper. Road my motorcyle and went out for lunch while my wife was watching a movie with the grand kids. Stopped at a friend's house (the only JW that stayed in touch with me) to plan next week's motorcycle trip to the Canadian east coast. After diner I am watch Big Brother with my wife who is the fan.

Have you ever heard a talk on child molestation following a judicial reproof?
by NVR2L8 inwhen someone is reprimanded by a judicial commitee there is usually a talk given to the congregation about issues that leads to serious sins.
sometimes that talk takes you by surprise because the reproof was private and no announcement was made to the congregation.
other times you figure out why an individual was the object of a judicial commitee...i heard talks on the usage of drugs, cigarettes, pornography, bad forms of intertainment, fornication, adultery, fraud, gambling, disapproved medical treatments...but never on child abusers and mostly how to protect your children against this terrible crime.. do you think the reason there is never mention of child abuse is that if many knew there is a child molester in their midst they would pressure the elders to go to the autorities?

"Delicate" subjects have been discussed publicly in the presence of young children such as oral sex, perverted sex practices, masturbation or abstinence certain days during the menstrual cycle...so there is no excuse for not warning children against molestation. Instead wasting resources making a totally useless Sparlock video they could spend their energy helping kids recognize when "uncle Bill" affection is actually molestation.

Who On This Site Would You Like To Meet?
by minimus inthere are a lot of interesting people that frequent this site.. sometimes, we get an idea of what the posters are really like in "real life".
and i'm sure i could be easily surprised by some that you think might be strong personalities because of their board presence, and in reality, they might be shy in a face to face setting.. i would enjoy meeting simon.
simon used to be terribly annoyed by my posting and now i think he's accepted with tolerance my being here.. farkel seems like a grouchy cantankerous fellow but i think he'd be very interesting company!.

Awakened at Gilead because his videos really hit home and On The Way Out because he is in a similar situation as I am. Oompa...to discuss motorcycles. The Anderson's because I realise how dedicated and loving they are. Ynot for the courage it took to publish internal documents. Cedars and now Mrs. Cedars for keeping on top of things and sharing with us.

by JakeMarley inthe entire time i was gone it was nagging at me.
i hadn't been previously baptized, so leaving wasn't that big a deal.
now i'm back in the swing of it, going to all meetings and field service.

I was a JW all my life and at 55 I just couldn't go on thinking "what if" I am wasting my life away peddling literature containing 120 years of false predictions and perpetuating beliefs that have not been proven or worse proven false by science and history! Reasearch on the history of the WT and verification of the secular "proof" used in their doctrine convinced me that I had not one more second to wasted on their account...

Do you think the reason there is never mention of child abuse is that if many knew there is a child molester in their midst they would pressure the elders to go to the autorities? Would it create a movement of panic and many would simply go to another congregation? Would they just trust that the elders have everything under control?

My wife's JW brother/wife and cousin/husband are coming for a visit....
by NVR2L8 init's been 2 years since my last meeting and i have been avoiding all contacts with jws to stay under the radar.
i've had my brother, sister and mom visit from back home 300 miles away and except for my mom i told the others why i stopped believing in the wt's teachings.
they told me that i should do what makes me happy and that nothing would change between us...we will see.

No more blood card
by lostinthought inwhat a day!
first of all one of my electronic devises broke so the store said they would replace it i just needed to show id, i removed my license from my wallet and saw my blood card staring me in the face i couldn't stand looking at it so i took it and crumpled it up and threw it away, upon leaving the store i had a car accident it the parking lot, nobody was terribly injured but it was my fault so i feel bad...but i also feel elated that i tore up the card, what if i had a really bad accident and i needed blood?
what could have happened to me?

I remember how careful I was when I opened my wallet so no one would see that no blood card identifying me as a JW...After deciding not to go back to the KHall after the 2010 DC, I tore up the card and will accept any treatment available to save my life.
