That's funny crazy guy...my wife is still in and she hasn't said anything either...we kept it a secret from our JW friends.

Petty Gambling
by konceptual99 inaccording to the shepherd book.... .
the elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment.
they may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.-w02 11/1 p. 31.. .

I can relate because I won 50k with a free ticket from McD when I was still in and a MS. I did some research in the publications to get "Jehovah's" view on the matter. The oldest articles stated that it was left to your conscience to accept or not since technically you hadn't wagered any money to acquire the ticket. The most recent article reversed "Jehovah's" view by saying the money was raised through a disaproved activity and accepting the prize money would be like accepting diamonds as a gift knowing they were stolen. I seriously considered not claiming the prize not to lose my service privileges. This got me thinking of another situation where it is OK to accept blood fractions acquired through blood donation...an activity disaproved by God... One year later I found TTATT and left the cult and I am very happy I didn't forfeit the money as it would have been another poor decision made under the wise guidance of the WT.

FP In my opinion it's impossible to fade if you still want to be socially engaged with JWs...they will remain friendly until they figure out you no longer want to be a JW. You will end up loosing all of your friends anyway and risk of being pursued by the elders. I know the only reason any JW would befriend me would be to reactivate me and then I may be able to be part of their social life. I have made new friends who have unconditional love for me and I just want to stay away from the elders.

My congregation is made up of tired, depressed and delirious people on medication...half of which see the destruction of billions of people as the solution for all their problems by their loving Jehovah. The other half are realizing they may die before the end and now they're in panic mode to make up for their retirement or to pay the debts they thought they wouldn't have to. Google Jehovahs witnesses for news...child abuse and murder suicide come up...Surely not what you should expect for the best lifestyle of JWs.
By the way people living in North Korea are also told they are happy...and they better believe it or else!

Hello, I am new
by LillyC ini am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

Welcome Lilly. I am an inactive JW, meaning that I haven't been to a meeting or preaching door to door for almost 4 years. When I stopped going to the Kingdom Hall not one of my JW called on the phone or visited me to ask about my absence...some I have known for 15 years...people I went out for dinner with every week, traveled abroad for vacation with, some who would hug and kiss me at every meeting. I even see them going door to door on my street smiling and talking to my neighbors...they skip my door. I gave 50 years of my life to the Watch Tower organization only to find out they are a fraud and do not represent God. The comment by FL_Panthers really reflects how they use false reasonings to take control of people. Remember even liars tell the truth occasionally. Don't let them tell you what you believe is wrong only to replace it with their lies.

Discussion with some elders
by GoUnion inhello everyone just wanted to relate a situation that occurred a few days ago.
so i have quit going to meetings for a few months now based on some issues i have with the explanations of current doctrines.
my wife is none too happy with this but over the last few months we have had some date nights and have tentitively agreed to disagree.

Welcome to the forum. Expect an official visit by 2 elders dressed in their suits with Bible in hand. Everything you say will be used against you at a judicial committee. In WT doctrine there is no room for doubt because they possess "their" absolute truth. If you disagree there's something wrong with you...you're either weak or an apostate. What will determine where you belong is how you will react to the help they will offer. Conform or desist.
Edit: Just read OTWO's post and I agree with him as we are both in the same situation. My wife realizes that talking to the elders would be perceived by me as betrayal and it would be the end of our marriage. Right now things are going well between us and I'm sure she doesn't want it to change.

My thoughts while watching Schindler's list movie...
by NVR2L8 ini'm not a big movie watcher but last night i watched part of schindler's list.
this was my second attempt to do so because i couldn't watch the whole movie when it first came out.
again last night i cried at the cruelty of it all and hatred behind the extermination of 6 million people because they were of different origin or had different beliefs.

Again last night I cried at the cruelty of it all and hatred behind the extermination of 6 million people because they were of different origin or had different beliefs. For JWs only Satan could have driven Hitler to such cruelty including the persecution and murder of thousands of faithful JWs during the Holocaust. I couldn't stop thinking of how our loving God Jehovah is about to do the same thing at Armageddon and destroy billions because they have different beliefs or were born in the wrong culture. In the movie there is a part where thousand of dead bodies are being burned and their ashes are coming down like snow all over the city...I was thinking about the billions of bodies that will need to be disposed of after Armageddon. How can JWs see the cruelty in the Holocaust as coming from Satan and still believe their deliverance by their loving God can only be achieved by the destruction of millions of lives at Armageddon? My wife is still in and I wanted to ask her these questions...but unfortunately it would have only led to a dispute about my apostate thinking...

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

In high school I set of a fire alarm to get out of a class. I used to play hockey against police officers and they were dirty players so I lined one up who was looking down at the puck and I knocked him out with a vicious body check.
