Until 2 years ago I was doing the accounts in my cong and I was paying the bills...the rent to the KHall central account which pays for heating, power and supplies, money to the WT collected for the Worldwide Work and KHall Fund, CO's expenses, Kingdom Hall WT Insurance....but not literature invoice.

During the last 18 months I went to a funeral talk in my old congregation and a wedding talk at another KHall where I knew only a few. I officially quite attending regular meetings at the DC in 2010 - June 13th. The lack of reaction of the audience during the final talk (and WT review) on the generation overlap infuriated me and made me realize that I was in a cult. If these people could accept that without questionning, they will accept anything regardless of the consequences.

If you look at the Announcements of the October 2011 Kingdom Ministry you will find a list of requirements including reviewing this brochure before visiting Bethel...
By the way can we expect a "refreshed" version of this brochure - is "new light" on fashion going to take us out of the 50's?

This is one of the things that bothered me a lot when this issue was discussed at the service meeting and when the illustrated guide was posted on the buletin board. I thought to myself: how many actually visit Bethel and why would the WT discuss this issue several times during a short period of time? Could JWs visiting Bethel dress so poorly that they need to bring up this issue in such a direct way. My answer was no...all they want to accomplish is to control people not only when they visit Bethel but also lcally in the congregation. One CO became obsessed with sisters wearing v-neck tops that had a lower neckline than the one illustrated as being modest - and it was the same for skirt length and tightness of dresses...During several visits he mentioned this in his final talk. He was dressed like he came from the seventies and she wore ankle length dresses with a mushroom haircut...I guess they could had posed for the illustrated guide.

I didn't marry a "pagan" said my wife
by NVR2L8 in18 months ago when i told my wife that i no longer believe the wt teachings and that i had attended my last meeting, she said that everything would change because she didn't marry a "pagan".
so after a short moment i told her that i understood her reaction, but this would be the only time i would not act on such a comment - the next time i would simply pack up and leave.
isn't it strange that the one who is supposed to be in the "truth" is the one who is ready to forfit our marriage, when in fact the bible tells christian spouses to remain with their unbelieving mate?

So after a short moment I told her that I understood her reaction, but this would be the only time I would not act on such a comment - the next time I would simply pack up and leave.
Isn't it strange that the one who is supposed to be in the "truth" is the one who is ready to forfit our marriage, when in fact the bible tells Christian spouses to remain with their unbelieving mate? When I decided to no longer follow the WT it never came to my mind to leave my wife...my decision had nothing to do with our marriage...it had to do with an organization that mislead us. I didn't threaten her to leave if she remained a JW....although I wish that one day she will see the WT for what it is.
In the first few months after I stopped the meetings it seemed like my wife had a boost of zeal for meeting attendance and service, which was surprising since I always had to take the lead and encourage her to go out in service. But now, things are much better in the sense that she is back to her "normal" level of activity and meeting attendance and she doesn't bother me with any JW business and no longer shares thing that are happening to the "friends". So I am hopeful that I can avoid what many others have experienced because their spouse didn't want to live with a "pagan".

Interview with Ex-Elder: View from the Watchtower
by leavingwt inthis is from september 2011. i missed it when it was initially posted online.
i enjoyed it.
of interest to me was the man's shock when he was appointed as an elder, and the body of elders brought him up to speed on the congregation's dirty laundry.

Do You Miss Even A Little Bit Your "Friends" From The "Truth"?

When I suddenly stopped going to the meetings none of my so-called friends came over or even called the house to find out what was going on. They all told my wife to say "hi" or "we miss you", but that was all. Then a year later 2 elders whom I was good friends with came for their official visit, bible in hand but I told them to leave me alone. When I moved to a new home some of the friends I did favours to came to help because my wife and unbaptized son asked them. To thank them we had a house warming party 2 weeks ago and they came...I got to see my former "best friend" for the first time in 16 months. They talked about JW things, how great was this new elder....blablablabla....some watched the hockey game and left without engaging with me. I now realize that the WT chose my friends for me...and I even replaced my own family with strangers that were more "worthy" of my friendship because they believed the same bullshit I did. Now I miss not knowing all my cousins and uncles, even my own brother who never became a JW. Today I want to have as little to do with any JW as possible because there are always ulterior motives to their actions.

Sorry about that...here it is:
Is there a law that holds more weight than: Thou shalt not kill? But what would happen if you killed someone in self defense to preserve your own life or the life of a close one? You would not be condemned by God or even "his" organization! Still you disobeyed the law...thou shalt not kill. Why then should you be held accountable for disobeying the law on abstaining from blood if it was for saving your life or the life of a close one? Would God condemn you?
