OTWO, My situation is identical to yours. I find out about DCs, SADs and CO's visits after the fact because of the change in my wife's routine. I want to know as little as possible about what goes on with the brothers, not because I don't care, but because any kind of interest would be perceived as a sign that may be coming back into the fold...In 18 months of inactivity I didn't receive any phone calls from the elders and 6 months ago two of them came for a short visit that was limited to my door step. At that time I made it clear that I wanted to be left alone. They are respecting this at this time but with a new CO you never know what to expect...he may want to know why a MS went missing in action. Occasionally my wife invites friends for dinner, but she is cautious about who she chooses...and conversations are limited to small talk. The only ackward moment is when she asks one brother to pray before the meal. Then again I am not overly friendly and cautious about getting involved in any JW-related talk.

Jehovah does not intervene to prevent Satan's system to appear successful...
by NVR2L8 ina while ago i read a thread that quoted a wt publication saying that jehovah doesn't protect or intervene in human affairs to avoid making things appear like satan is right in regards to the sovereignty issue...can anyone provide the source of this quotation?.

Do You Agree That Being A JW=Never Growing To Your Full Potential?
by minimus insoooo many witnesses that i knew of had great potential to be somebody, to do something in their lives and instead, they simply existed in a way of life that never really ever gave them back anything in return.
so sad, when you think of the waste!.

I agree with thetrueone...even when you do it according to the WT's view of growing to your full potential, when they are done with you, you are tossed to the side...I know DOs and COs who have been replaced by younger (healthier and less expensive) company men...These "older" servants are now without resources and have their cherished priviledges and only reason to live taken away. This is quite the reward for reaching your full potential...and there is no relief (or end) in sight.

I quit school a few weeks before completing grade 10 - one year short of completing High School. This was in 1970 when I was convinced by the WT that secular education and pursuing a career was useless since the end would come before I could ever complete college. There was no valid reason for me to leave school especially when I had a talent for algebra, geometry and foreign languages. From then I did all types of low paying jobs like apprentice autobody man and warehouse labourer...I always felt I had to work twice as hard as anyone else to keep my job because I feared it would be very difficult to find another decent job without any type of diploma. Of course I never had time to go to night classes or take courses because all my time was devoted to being a good JW. Then I got married very young...and at 21 years old I became a father which added more pressure in keeping my job at all cost. With time an executive of the company I was working for saw the potential in me and I ended up holding a senior manager's position paying a few thousands short of six figures. Following the advice of this same executive I joined the company's pension plan when doing so was seen as a lack of faith by other JWs.
Still, who can tell what I could have accomplished with a college or university education.

If You Have Had the CO or DO Stay With You...
by A question infor those of you who have had the co/do stay with you for the week:.
how was the experience?.
how did they spend their free time?

We had the DO and his wife stay with us. I had mentioned to one of the elders that I knew him from back home when he was our CO so he said that it would be a great idea if we had them stay with us. I said sure...at that time I was reaching out for re-appointment as a MS and showing hospitality to the DO couldn't hurt. The DO called and said that they were excited to spend time with us. We have a newer house with a guest room and office that they could use. I didn't spend much time with them during the day but my wife said that the brother used the office and wireless network for e-mails quite a lot. He was out every evening for meetings and his wife stayed back with my wife to watch movies in our theatre room. She loved animated movies like Shrek. We had dinner together once and our conversations weren't all centered on the wonderful preaching work...or how we came to the truth...we had fun. When they left they gave us a nice thank you card. A few months later I was appointed as a MS and soon after I started to work on sound at the CA and DC where I ran into the brother who wasn't overly warm and all business on these occasions. On the other hand his wife was as fun as when she stayed with us.
These were not my only encounters with COs and DOs. My dad was a car mechanic and when I was a child my dad was often fixing the CO's and DO's cars. In these days they used their own vehicles which were in most cases old poorly maintained junkers. My dad would fix them for free, often paying for the parts out of his own pocket. Since we weren't wealthy, dad had to take jobs on Saturday...of course most of his customers were JWs who had no issue with paying cash "under the table" to save on car repairs. Before the WT owned assembly halls each circuit owned a moving truck to store or move the equipment they needed to hold assemblies at rented halls. My dad drove and maintained that truck that usually was no longer fit for everyday use...it never started when they needed it and dad was called late at night or on a day off to go and fix it. Today I realize how men like my dad were taken advantage of while the WT was piling up money and sparing no expense to maintain or enlarge their buildings. It's funny how my dad got to visit the Bethel garages and afterward saying how well equipped their were...how well maintained their fleet of vehicles were...and never realizing that he had made so many sacrifices while the WT was sparing no expenses....

N.DREW when I was the accounts servant an older sister approached me because she wanted to give all of her money to the WT and not to her children...including her daughter who was in the truth. She wanted to give the money before she died so her children wouldn't find out as they would when her will would be read...
