how many here are planning to see this movie.
also, can any of you direct me here to any topics about jesus himself.
i want to read up on the history of jesus.
I plan on seeing it.
.
suppose god holds us accountable.
what will you say to him in your defense to plead you cause?
I don't have a defense. I won't say anything to Him. I only look forward to hearing Him say, "well done my good and faithful slave. Enter into the joy of your master."
The reason I will get this response is because of His Son's death, burial and resurrection. His death paid for my sin. His resurrection justifies me before God. If you have any questions read Romans chapters 1-4.
being brought up in the borg since birth, i beleived everything my parents taught me and showed me, i looked up to them, they were my heroes in life.. now, i look back, they lied to me, cheated me, mislead me, did not look out for my best interests, and abadonned me when i needed them the most,.
i have nothing good to say about them (or my brothers and sisters), like to tie them both to a tree and ----- them.
they are very stupid people.. i'm sure i will wrestle with this the rest of my life.. thanks so much watchtower bible and tract society !!!!!!!!!!
Well, I was adopted at six months. I have very little information about my birth mother and father. SO I have no emotional ties to them. However, my adopted mom and dad, I love very much. My mom has been dead now for almost 12 years, and I miss her greatly. My dad, is my dad. He is the role model for me in everything except religion.
I hold both of them in very high esteem. I just wish they didn't belong to that religion.

'something between cover-up and censorship' .
a leading bible scholar reacts to the secrecy surrounding an advance screening of 'the passion'
I seem to remember when The Last Temptaion of Christ came out, that those who supported free speech and "artistic license" told those in the fundamentalist corner that if they didn't like then don't see it. That those that protested were stifling "free speech."
Well, I basically say the same thing to them. If it bothers you don't see it, and quit trying to infringe on my inalienable rights to "the pursuit of happiness," which includes free speech, or do you all think that only applies to making movies that ridicule Christ and His life?
i remember when they would discourage kids from taking colors or coloring books to the meetings.
so i thought ok, i will give my kid a pen and my book of bible stories to keep him busy.
then they said that was a bad idea because he might write on the furniture and it wasnt good to teach them to write on the wbt publications.
However, on the cynical side...since most of the JW children are not baptized think of all the hours one could get by teaching them during meeting times, not to mention bible studies one could count at the end of the month.

Good point Euphemism. I have forgotten a lot since being out for 13-plus years. However, one other thing came to mind as I read your post. That is, rooms. My ex had four different age groups to plan for, not not mention a nursery. So there would be a need for five rooms to be constructed. Even if all the labor is donated, there would be engineering, architectural, and material costs. Again, it comes down to money.

I think the main reason why JW's do not have a Sunday school program for children is plain and simple...MONEY. My ex-wife ran the Sunday School program for the church we attended, and her monthly budget was $2,500. Can you imagine the GB dowling out that much a month for however many congreagations worldwide?

washington - the supreme court said tuesday it will decide whether the pledge of allegiance recited by generations of american schoolchildren is an unconstitutional blending of church and state.
the case sets up an emotional showdown over god in the public schools and in public life.
What will be next? Removing "all are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights?"
i just got off the phone with my father.
it went better than i thought it would.
of course he asked if i was doing anything in the "truth," and i just simply said, that i attend a church, and that i didn't want to take the conversation that way.

Overall, the conversation was good and pleasant. It was good to hear his voice again.
Thanks for all your suggestions. At least I'll have a good night's sleep for the first time in about two weeks.
