That is ome of the big problems with "free will." JW's, like many evangelicals that hold to "free will" believe in some kind of magical and non-Biblical "age of accountability". At this age you, all of a sudden, realize that you are a sinner in need of a savior.
Don't feel bad, however. I asked my dad the same question before I faded. His response was, "You knew it was 'the truth' then, and deep inside, you still know it." Oy, is he in denial.

well i would love to picket some conventions in north and south carolina, i live in tennessee and the closest one away is johnson city about 80 miles from me, however there is a good possibility that some of my witness relatives from ky might be attending there.
the next closest ones to me would be winston-salem nc, columbia sc, or birmingam alabama.
these other locations are just a little too far for me right now and with gas so expensive i just dont think i could afford the extra expense right now.
Wouldn't well documented letters to the editor, or op-ed pieces responding to the Borg PR machine do more than dumping leaflets on JWs that think the leaflets should be used as toilet paper do more damage?
Summer is when the Borg gets a ton of free publicity from newspapers and local TV stations. Yet them in the media. This is where it would hurt the most.

if the bible is really the word of god, and complete.... it seems to me that any organization, whether it be wt or christian research institute or a host of others..... by making books to explain" the bible to anyone, is basically saying that the all wise, all knowing god, the creator of all,.
really didn't write his book correctly, needs their help, is basically out of touch with humanity and wrote a book in code that.
needs human intervention to interpret..... the book itself claims to be complete and the only things necessary, and further claims that the spirit of god would be given to .

CRI's claim to fame (under Dr. Walter Martin) was to provide answers to Christians confronted be the cults and aberant Christian doctrine. What CRI is now, I couldn't tell you since Hank Hannegraff has turned it into either a place to promote his personal vendetta against the "faith movement" and to peddle his books.
As far as commentaries, and scholarly works go, I don't view them as "inspired". I do hold them in high regard since I don't have a working knowledge of Hebrew. I rely on commentators like Kiel & Deiltizch to explain what a word means in its cultural and scriptural context in order for me to get the best meaning of the text in question. The same would apply to Greek, though I am somewhat more familiar with that language, I use commentaries to check how I translated the Greek, and second to make sure that my intrepetation is not something "new". I hold the second view based on Jude 3. Also to avoid the errors of C.T. Russell, Joseph Smith, and the rest of their ilk.
That's my view, I would love to discus this further.

The first book you should find is Crisis of Conscience, by Ray Franz. It essentially tells of the in workings of the Governing Body, and of Ray Franz's experience of leaving the Body, Bethel and disfellowshipment. It was extremely eye-opening for me.
I also recommend Why You Should Believe in the Trinity by Robert Bowman. Though it is slanted to proving the Trinty doctrine, what I found impressive was how he author demonstrated how the WTS is extremely sloppy in their "scholarship", or just plain deseptive in attempting to "disprove" a commonly held doctrine of "Christendom."
The term "Borg" is a refererence to the Borg Collective from Star Trek: The Next Generation. They are aliens that assimilate other life forms into their collective to attain "perfection." They have no individual personalities, and exist to only serve the Collective. It is a very striking parallel to the rank-and-file JWs.

my ex-wife and i were to start our custody/equalization trial yesterday but due to time constrictions we had a settlement conference instead and it is over!!!!!

financially, i will end up having to pay $5,000.00 more than what i should.. (only because my ex lied about a few things) but i get joint custody of the kids now.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I sent my son to visit his grandparents in New Mexico. About two days after he came back he came to me with tears in his eyes saying that he did not want me to die at Armeggedon. I ask him where he learned that word from, and he said, "From Granddad." I then had to explain to him that it wasn't true, a point that my then JW wife agreed with me on. We never sent him back to visit by himself again.

i don?t know if anyone else recalls this or not, but i remember reading articles in the wt publications about having business dealings with ex-jws and how witnesses should do everything possible to avoid this.
they even stated that if your business partner becomes df?d, you should do everything possible to get out the business (i.e.
buy him out or letting him buy you out).
I posted something similar to this before. At the grocery store that I use when I run out of something (ie. two blocks from my place) here is an elder's wife that is a cashier. She always works the express lane, and since I always get 10 items or less, I constantly use her stand. I can see the pained look on her face, but she has never, ever refused me service. I, do go out of my way to be plesant.
