I love the way 'Christians' can't agree on a subject.
Has anyone thought the stuff in the Bible is metaphor or garbage?
what “the abomination that causes desolation” mentioned in mathew 24:15 means could be understood only by close followers of jesus because it was part of his personal discussion with them.
by stopping to greet those whom they consider as “their enemies” jws are identifying themselves as “pagans,” according to jesus.
(mathew 5:43-48) thus they cannot correctly understand what the abomination that causes desolation” that would appear as part of signs of “last days.”.

leviticus 10:1-3. .
the death of nadab and abihu.
10 aaron’s sons nadab and abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the lord, contrary to his command.
R&R If you are to believe this story
I don't. I think there is either an element of Chinese whispers or metaphor. What an absolutely stupid story. I can't believe I was gullible enough to believe such rancid nonsense back in the day. I'm glad I woke up.
Why didn't God just blind them, make them deaf or give them some kind of disorder?
Rectal piles would be my choice. A bit like that other stupid story around the same bit.
George Carlin
He made very astute observations about Religion and God. The ones I've heard make more sense than some twot in a silly hat pretending they're something they're not.
I see folks arguing the toss about what a scripture means on many threads. Same scripture, different interpretation. that should tell you something about what a crap communicator god is, if 'god or gods' exists.
A monumental waste of time. ends in nothing but 'unchristian' squabbling. shows what they learned and practice.
Why not put that effort into make the world a better pace around oneself?
growing up around the faith, whenever i heard something taught, i'd always think there is a different way of looking at that, probably better.. we always hear "this good news of the kingdom will be preached... " matt 24:14.. so i think, is there more to it than preaching the kingdom?.
luke 17:21 the kjv and asv says "neither shall they say, lo here!
or, lo there!
To be brutally honest, I think looking at the Bible as an inspired 'Holy Book from God' is a mistake.
There are some good bits and bad bits. A lot seem more like metaphors than true stories.
Anyway, or anyways, with an 's' on the end for my American cousins......
If one must take this stuff seriously, how about Luke 10:7....although you could argue it's about hospitality more than door knocking.....but hey, why not interpret it how you want...every other bugger does
Luke 10:7
New International Version
7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

5 “satan instigated an attack on the anointed brothers who were taking the lead in the kingdom-preaching work.
prominent ones among them were the figurative “two witnesses” spoken of as being killed.”.
I wouldn't even ask them to prove it because it'd just become a meaningless word salad of boring proportions.
Best leave it that they're talking shite!
Like with all religious nutters, going in to Bible wording....it's pointless and monumentally time wasting.
so reading that the dubs are going back to their kingdumb halls got me thinking, i guess they haven’t been getting their regular inspections from thier circuit overseers.
if they haven’t had their meetings, the inspectors couldn’t visit - or did they?
i’m intrigued.
I don't care anymore. I'll bet they were devising new ways to scrounge off the sheeple.
I'm Paul from Cambridgeshire UK. Disassociated by the cult and don't care.

They pay the postage and the WBT$ don't give them anything. The individuals pay for it all themselves.
the grift continues and AM3 is still getting drunk using their money.

Qit - Your faith was built on the WTBS?
I'm not sure what that means? I had a belief system set up around what came from the Americans at WT HQ. It was supposed to be from the Bible.
Not sure if that's what you mean.
After leaving the slaveholdery of the WTBT$, I became a mainstream Christian I think you could say.
Funnily enough, it was in a Church I concluded there was probably no God as per Bible or other 'Holy' book.....and probably no higher creating, influencing power at all. (I mean there is naff all out there and never was that made or guides us).
...............but I could be convinced otherwise with some sort of tangible evidence.
the wt uses phi list ine.
the world says phil is tine.
i remember they had a pronunciation guide devised by a clergyman which is ok in as much as as we dont speak hebrew.
This reminds me of a 'Brother(tm)' back in the 1960's who was a bit of an attention seeker and when this very subject arose said, 'I say Fill-list-tee-ahn!'
What a twat. He's dead now, so was it all worth it?

Wow. I've come back to a lot of reading. Most interesting to see differing views. Thanks for your input. Whereas I try to give individual comments, I'm struggling this time.
I will say, I wish you all the very best, Peaceful Pete.
