Any new directions about Facebook at the summer conventions?
by awaken2004 injust wondering because a few of my jw friends have "left the building".
i really hope so because i am totally regretting having a few fb pals.

we'll hear about a CO telling bodies of elders that if any of them are on FB they'll be deleted.
Recent CO visit in Service Talk said you read of all the counsel in WT & Aw about "social networks", what do you think they mean? You won't read Facebook mentioned by name there, but I'm saying it here and now to you: FACEBOOK. THat is what those articles are warning you about.
Rogue CO? Or, is this the direction they are getting from HQ?

Is this faith.....or something else?
by journey-on ina jw relative tells me that she still has faith we are in the last days and will see armageddon before she gets too much older.
she will endure to the end.
yet, in other conversations we have had, she talks about how she and her jw elder husband sock away as much money as they can into their respective retirement plans.

Recently had an elder explain to me how he will have enough years accumulated to retire at 57 and draw full pension and his strategy on how to be able to afford to do this, etc, etc..
He is only 40 years old. I said I was bewildered that he was planning for this system to continue another 17 YEARS.......???? Let the backpedaling begin....

Are more long standing JW's leaving?
by cantleave inat one time, it seemed that the majority of those leaving, were young ones brought up in the cult.. from what i can see now (at least on here), there seems to be a high number of 20+ baptised members years leaving.. has this always been the case?
it might be i just didn't notice from my parochial view from the kingdom hall!.
or are there really more long standing jw's leaving now, than ever before?.

Recent CO visit, he HAMMERED on "Social Networks" and specifically FACEBOOK. It has been mentioned on this board about reviewing if elders/MS and their family members are on Facebook. After this talk, I believe that to be true. It may not be direct orders from the bOrg, but I can easily see how some independent thinking COs could implement such thinking.

Waking Up From a 34 Year Slumber.

the sleeping pill i took was in the form of them providing the information that made the bible come alive with the truth and insisting that they go by the bible not adding or taking away from it.
i had negative experiences from local brothers from time to time, however i excused them as part of being imperfect.

10 years sooner than my eyes started to open. (Still squinting -- hard to handle the new light all at once!) haha Where have I heard that before?

Should Christians Own Dogs as Pets?
by undercover inusing the wt's "birthday logic" (only two mentions of b-days in the bible, both negative, which means "true christians" do not celebrate them) i wrote this faux wt article about whether true servants of the wt god should really own dogs... i'm no sd-7, but i tried..... .
animals are truly a gift from jehovah as the creator of all things.
animals have, since the creation, served as workers and companions for man.

In my experience I treat them like shit because I have something in me that makes it impossible for me to be happy. I have to fuck up everything I touch to reaffirm my own self deprecation.
There are good therapists these days.......but then again, it's your life to fuck up all you want.

I walked out of an Elder's Meeting
by AlmightyDog inwell here goes... i apologize in advance if this turns into a long and disjointed rant, but i just have to begin typing in order to keep from exploding.
i realize that what im about to say could seriously jeopardize my anonymity, but i think ive reached the point that i just dont care.
i want this to be over.. let me explain what caused me to rip up a letter and get up and walk out in the middle of an elders meeting two weekends ago.. our boe has been embroiled in a nasty fight for the past 2 years over a certain brothers business dealings.

JWs are their own worst enemies. No "apostate army" could ever wreak as much havoc on the congregations as the losers who get appointed into positions of authority.
Now THAT'S something to think about!!
Losers is all they have left willing to grovel until they get a position "of authority".

Where have I heard that before????.........although actually it said "very, very close". (Check your WT CD for that quote, WT study article from about 1999 or 2000.)
