Canadians and Europeans, what do you think of your national health care ?

we have been in a battle over health care for so long here in the us regarding public, private, gov't subsidized, obama care, medicare for all, and just about every permutation of the above.. we hear the horror stories here that people wait 20 years for a check-up (ok, bit of an exaggeration), but you get the point.

one side tells us that canadians flock across the border when they are sick and need to see a doctor.

the other side says that is simply not the case.. so tell us, if you live under one of the government systems would you replace it?

It costs about £100,000 to train to become a doctor in student fees etc yet wages start at just £22,000 a year

Education to go into the healthcare field is expensive here (US) as well. Nursing school can be as inexpensive as $25000 or more than $100,000 (depending on public/private schools). Pharmacy school is well over $100,000. And, a medical student probably spends (or his parents or a scholarship does) $200,000.

However, a nurse easily earns $60,000.

A nurse practitioner (extra schooling beyond nursing) and is the usual "GP" or "primary care" person now earns over $150,000.

A pharmacist (BTW a pharmacist, even a "Doctor of Pharmacy", cannot prescribe drugs here in the US -- only a physician or nurse practitioner can write a prescription) earns well over $100,000.

But a physician earns easily $250,000 to million$ if they are the top of their field (ie, cardiac surgeon) at a teaching/research hospital.

Love Uni -- what is the cost to the average citizen? Or, taxpayer? (There is a difference)

Is it paid for by a VAT, income tax, what? What does it does it cost the "average" person?

Are there "co-pays" or "deductibles" or is everything FREE?

Are restrictions that prevent people from abusing it? For example, some here in the US that have free health coverage (Medicaid) will procrastinate taking their child to the doctor's office for checkups or early health needs and just go take them to the hospital (much much more expensive) because it's all "FREE" (to them). They have no incentive to do it the inexpensive route.

Publisher ID - I Saw It In Person & It Was Terrifying!

i'd like to start off this post by saying, we all know that the wt loves control.

it's clear by their history, their wt's, the elder arrangement and so on.

however, after witnessing and using the publish id program in person, it takes this need for control to a whole new level & it was scary.. if you've ever seen builder assist (the website program used for ldc volunteers) or the metro program, it actually looks pretty similar to that.

Giordano, if you are paying a premium each month, then isn't the coverage you have a Medicare alternative policy with a private insurance company? Here, we have such coverage with names as: "Coventry" "Essence", etc. In these cases, private insurance companies (United Health Care, Blue Cross, etc) have contracted with the Government's Medicare office to cover the insured person and the Gov't pays a monthly fee to the insurance company that is equal to the "average cost" the Gov't typically pays for a Male/Female of your age.

MANY US Citizens who are 65 of older (or qualify due to disability) opt out of the Government Medicare coverage for such alternative policies thru private insurance providers. Once again, private business has shown they can make a profit at the same "premium" they receive from the Gov't.

The Government is ineffective and more expensive at damn near anything they do.

Brother-in-Law DF’d but family doesn’t know he’s awake

i haven’t posted in a while, but i wanted to share.

so my brother-in-law was dfd a couple of weeks ago.

his mom & dad are hardcore jws so they are full shunning, but told him to hurry back.

The issue is he was DFd for a JW violation, not apostasy or anything. . .

If he feels that he must "fake it" and get reinstated to maintain communication with the elderly parents, this is certainly easier under these conditions than if he was discovered to be a "mentally diseased apostate". It's a lot easier to "prove" you're repentant about over-drinking, a little drug use, or even adultery. He would just have to grovel ("eat shit") for 6-12 months and play the "repentant" card. THEN, he could find a reason to start to fade.

it was the section of the article that said, ".

If you recall the testimony of Geoffrey Jackson during the ARC, he basically tried to say that he was not a "spokesman" (or decision maker) for the Organization. Just worked in the translation department, I believe.

Angus chewed him up and spit him out. Angus new more about organizational procedure than most Elders or CO's. And that's the way most of these high priced lawyers are getting to be. They are learning the "ins-and-outs" of WT double-speak. They are being provided copies of "confidential" information. Elders who are called to testify and defend WT policy leave red-faced with their "tail between their legs".

You can be sure all the same data for US publishers is being collected and uploaded into this system as they do not even need consent authorizations. This will prevent them losing track of inactive publishers (faders) that cause them problems down the line so that judicial action can be meted out.

In countries where this Consent is now required, I assume it has been difficult to stay under the radar if you refuse to sign. There is NO WAY I would willingly give consent to anything like this.

Odd isn't it that his humble servants, the Governing Body, never humbled themselves to admit that they were totally effing wrong about 1975 (and other such dates). NO! Self righteous JW's erroneously believed MORE into what was stated and they are personally at fault.

Hotels Deny Watchtower Discount Rates For 2020 Regional Conventions

the wtbts is not being given special room rates by 2 major hotels at the long beach convention center area for the upcoming 2020 regional conventions & wt is t'd off.

letters are being read in surrounding circuits and congregations.

apparently wt is afraid that other hotels are going to blackball them as well.. has anyone else heard this?

During the 1958 International Convention in NYC, it was reported by a member of the media that Jehovah's Witnesses came to town with the 10 Commandments and a $10 bill and left without breaking either of them.

I attended my JWs Grandfathers funeral

i attended my grandfathers jw funeral the other day.

firstly i am a rabid apostate, and certainly not wt greatest fan.

that been said however, i will certainly stick up for them when they do the right thing.

I too have heard they have toned down the "infomercial" feel of the Funeral Discourse. (They probably read too much negative feedback here and other sources.)
