  My last conversation with a JW

  so, i got to thinking about the last time i spoke to a jw.. i was still living down south, june or july 2012.. and i saw this brother in my local high street.

  he was a few years younger than me - in his late teens and my early twenties we used to go out to pubs and get smashed.

  now this guy starts acting super spiritual - he sees me and after exchanging pleasantries he starts going on about armageddon and how the end is so close.

  Just bumped into a JW acquaintance (just cannot refer to them as "friend") in a local retailer. We played the good JW role since we're fading and even that is not so public (esp with Zoom) that they may not be aware of it. All we heard is that we are living in a "historic" time. Things have never been so bad. This cannot go on much longer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That they have it sooo bad. A bit overweight, out shopping for frivolous things (this was not the grocery store), dressed nice casual with hair all perfect (not gray) and arrived in their nice SUV (despite the Slo-Joe gas prices).

  Come by and we'll have a glass of Kool-Aid.

  If you think Watchtower is disappearing any time soon…

  you are sadly mistaken.. i hear people say it on here all the time, and dare i say his name *cough* lloyd evans *cough* has said it a number of times, that watchtower is running scared and watchtower is in decline….. we need to put in perspective the decrease from the 2020 report.

  if we calculate a yearly -0.6 decrease over a 10 year period from 2020 figures it leaves us the grand total number of witnesses of:.

  by 2030: - 7,933,479. by 2040: - 7,471,357. by 2050: - 7,036,154. i agree that this is a significant decrease, but let’s not kid ourselves, the wt organisation will still be alive and well even with an annual 0.6% loss.

  Loss of members? Likely

  I suspect any growth will be no more than the population growth from people reproducing.

  Their only hope at this point is another complete economic collapse like 1929. Then people will grasp at straws for hope and WT will come to help them.

  1995 generation change

  now, many years later, i remember the 1995 generation change, very well.. since early youth, hearing my father explaining in field service the 2520 years.

  it was his main theme in the field.. with the change my doubts started.

  with some jw friends we did not trust the organization anymore.

  Some thought on comments --

  There have been sooo many changes attributed to "New Light" that most JWs now see "New Light" as Joe Hoover's direction. I's a good thing instead of a mistake by the Borg. (Great PR work WT)

  Most JW's don't know anything has changed. Most JW's do not know what they believe as far as doctrine. Almost NONE of them actually READ the WT or the publications They are spiritually lazy. Those who were NOT lazy, are here. I was working with a fellow elder D2D after the 1995 change and he was still preaching/teaching the OLD doctrine. Even he DID NOT understand the 1995 change.

  1995 is 25 years ago. WT never refers to any changes. They just go on like Joe Hoover's Borg has been foretelling The End now for over 100 years (like that is a good thing)! (WTF?) So the VAST MAJORITY of active JW's have no idea that anything has changed.

  to camouflage this, he starts and ends the talk by saying that isn't actually what he's doing.
