Not only the OP on Reddit but many of the numerous replies & comments contain lots of emotion. It appears there are A LOT of elders (and former elders) that don't just "blindly go by the book". I totally understand my so many have decided to walk away. (Me too.)

Those who follow blindly are simply too stupid to question anything, or afraid to be caught questioning anything, or perhaps the prominent ones who are in the limelight find it to be their "drug" and they can't see reality because of their addiction to bright light they are basking in. And for some, it is the only affirmation they get anywhere.

SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OLD and climbing on roofs and "washing windows"! Very sad indeed.

IF he had "stayed faithful" to ~~Jehovah~~ the bOrganization he would have been interviewed on the convention program and given token accolades for one who kept their "eye simple" and held up as an example. Had he had this accident while still an exemplary JW elder, his memorial service would have been conducted at the JW Assm Hall where everyone who attended would feed the contribution boxes (money kept by Assm Hall) before heading out for a few beers with their "clique".

Instead, he dared to challenge the unethical, money-grubbing WT/GB who sought to profit of off this mostly low income, minority congregation, and he was maliciously cast to the curb and thrown under the bus. Without a doubt, his sad demise was "celebrated" in many private conversations of his former elder "friends". ("See there! You can't escape Jehovah's judgement.")

Hopefully he lived (and died) deservedly filled with pride about his brave decision and NOT full of guilt and regret.

An interesting choice between a sincere prosecutor and a multiple convicted felon.

Quit getting all your news from CNN & MSNBC.

Kamala Harris was a horrible prosecutor, and especially toward black men. Of course, that doesn't apply to Willie Brown who helped get her in many "positions", (including missionary). She sentenced MJ users to jail during the time she admits to using it herself.

Have you not noticed that the cases against Trump are "eroding" one-by-one? Some have been overturned and all others under appeal.

I bet you think Trump set up that assassination attempt!

I wonder what it's costing WT to appeal this case...is a WT flunky lawyer involved or did WT source out the appeal proceedings to a pricy appeal specialist attorney?

This is mostly just "pushing paper" which here (USA) a paralegal would perform. I would think British HQ and even Australia HQ have a lawyer to turn to for things like this. Since there is little risk of any kind of CO$T (no monetary award), I cannot see WT paying for outside counsel.

I think they are foolish in pushing the matter so publicly and I believe it will result in the "Streisand Effect" bringing even greater attention to them and CSA.

Mass formation control and the Organization

most of the changes in the organization have been doctrinal and as a rule jws would not openly discuss these for fear of being labeled an apostate.

examples include overlapping generations and types and antitypes.

The in-house crew more-or-less works for free. The outsourced one? Who the fuck knows?

In the past I know WT has provided a private residence for an attorney and his family who relocated while he volunteered his time at Patterson.

I also know of local JW attorneys (those who must had disobeyed counsel about higher education) have assisted in insignificant local cases and likely did so free of charge.

The private (non-JW) attorneys that are hired for cases that risk huge settlements/judgements are likely paid hourly, just like anyone else pays them. Perhaps they get a discount for their "charitable" status, or even pro bono work, but I suspect they "lawyer up" and just pay the price for attorneys who specialize in issues like CSA.
