No reason to change unless you feel the need you have to.
I think a person often ignores the obvious (or what should be) until it affects them personally. They can turn a blind eye or ignore the "rumors" of child abuse UNTIL IT IS THEIR CHILD OR GRAND CHILD. They can ignore an unjust DFing when it is some distant acquaintance in the next congregation, but WHEN THEY (or their family member) get effed over for some minor indiscretion while the prominent elder's kid gets their serious incident overlooked and a slap on the risk, THEN their eyes are opened.
Then they see the injustice.
Then they see that the claim of Hocus Pocus Holy Spirit in the decision making is total bullsheit.
It takes getting personally poked in the eye before they can see.
