If People Told you the JW's Would Change These Beliefs & Practices.....

( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.

here are some i have noticed that have changed :.

THE_RAISIN- My opinion is the WT society stopped having book studies in the private homes because they thought Witnesses were getting too close to one another. Think about it - if a JW wanted to show another JW something on a computer after a Book study, it would be possible in a home. But by restricting the Book Study to the Kingdom Hall only- the elders keep more of a monitor on individual JW's relationships in a formal setting. I think THAT is what it's about.

Actually, I think the attendance at CBS was so pathetic in many places that it was easier to end them than to try to build up attendance.

Plus, in many areas where several congs are sharing the KH, it freed up many weeknights, thus allowing another cong or two to utilize the same building instead of having to build a new structure. $$$ saved could be funnelled to "higher" priorities.

Finally, NO ONE was studying with their kids! (And everyone knows the young people are running out of the Org.) When the hell was there any time to do that? Now, it's a major guilt trip if you are not using the former CBS night for your Family Study (Worship Night). And IMHO families ARE doing it!

I'm very happy to see that no one here has condoned this type of violence. It is just as bad or worse than what some accuse and blame JWs for doing.

well like exdubs my adult life has been a horried rollercoaster of ups and downs.

whilst attending a marriage counselling sesiion for the first time last week, the counsellor told me that is appears strongly that i have ptds and linked it back to my childhood as a dub.

i started doing some research and memories came flooding back.

2 JW's at my door today with Memorial Invite, 30 min conversation

this brother who is new to the local hall has no clue i am an apostate in the wt's eyes.

he was with a sister who also did not know me.

we had a great conversation for 30 minutes about jesus the 144,000 and the heavenly calling.

They will be back in a couple weeks to give them time to look up all the scriptures they need to for our discussion about the new covenant, the 144,000 and whether or not all christians go to heaven. I told them to take their time, I will be awaiting their return and promised to invite them in.

My money is on the side that you will never see them again, unless this guy is the rare breed that accepts your challenge and is still convinced he can whip your butt at this game.

More than likely, he will decide (or be told) that spending more time with you would be casting pearl before swine.

You obviously do not want to learn........you do not want to humbly accept the message of the Good News........you have your own message.........therefore, YOU SHOULD GO TO HIS HOME.

has anyone here ever voiced displeasure or experienced difficulties due to clearly rude, incompetant, greedy or otherwise inappropriate behavior from fellow jws, only to be told that you are simply being "tested"?.

So God is testing me? isn't there some scripture in James or something about how God doesn't test you with adverse things?

WT spin: God never tests anyone -- He just allows you to be tested.

Did Knorr receive $20,000 a year from a benefactor?

i read here sometime in the last week or so (now i can't remember where though) that when knorr was the president of the watchtower society a benefactor would give him $20,000 every year!!!!.

but when fred franz became president, for some reason this benefactor only gave him $17,500 a year.. is this true?.

does anyone remember the thread here where this information was posted?.

GIFTS are not taxable, unless they exceed $13,000 from any one individual to another in a calendar year. (For many years this exclusion was limited to $10K). Thus any brother & his wife could presently "gift" $26,000 to any (married) member of the GB or Bethel, or anyone for that matter. Wealthy individuals typically gift this amount to any family member of their choosing each year, thus enabling them to get many 100s of $1000s to their children/grandchildren without facing estate taxes.

of the magazines that actualy get placed by the jw's.

once the door is closed, how many house holders do you think will actualy read them?

In every cong I was in, the actual number of mags reported as placed on FS slips was about 1/2 what the cong ordered. Now, how many of those ever got read? I'll bet there were more worldlys that read them that the JWs. Still, I doubt if it was 10% of what was printed.

I'd like, actually, to thank the WT for this whole series of articles - coming right out and saying what I already knew as to how the GB thinks of anyone that is inactive.

LOST GEN --Its almost like you can see the handwriting that they are gonna start DFing faders and/or even inactive ones.

Recently heard that if an unbapt pub becomes inactive they have to meet with elders and make a request to re-instate their status as bapt pub again.

Makes me wonder if LOST GEN's comment is on the right track (?)

Now that everyone has kissed and made up..........

........my first opinion (speaking as a citizen of the US) was surprise that there was such a significant number of posters from so many other countries, esp Brits & Aussies. Since there are 1Mil JWs in the US and nowhere near that in any other one country, there must be dramatically more X-JWs in the US as well.

Thus, because of the significant number of UK & Aussie members, I wondered if there is a much higher "exodus" rate there than here in the US?????

I was also impressed by the excellent English grammar by posters from countries where it is not typically one's 1st language.

(Hoping this doesn't make me sound like a typical American pompous @$$....)
