There are not really any consequences to a woman wearing trousers/pants beyond not likely to be allowed in the Ministry School (which almost does not exist any longer anyway). I'm in the Midwest USA and am well acquainted with an elder whose wife only wore "pant suits" (such as is not uncommon in corporate America -- see Hillary Clinton). He told fellow elders to keep their nose out of his family's business and left it at "she has reason that are none of YOUR business". Worked for him, but he was one of the Alpha Male elders.

The Next Big Thing In WT World
by NotFormer inthings got a bit lively after the agm leaks in october.
there was a lot of discussion going on on this board for a few months.
now that all the leaks have been more or less confirmed as policy, and we've had lively discussions at length concerning the changes, things seem to have slowed down here.. a few suggestions have been raised as to what might be the next changes, such as women being allowed to wear slacks (in the usa, anyway), decoupling from 1914 as an anchoring date and others.. so, what changes do you think will be announced this year?.

If they lose I think they will seriously consider what action they need to take to "get their ducks in a row" and requality EVEN IF it means some New Light on shunning.
They found New Light on blood transfusions when Bulgaria refused legal recognition of the religion due to their policy of DFing if one accepted transfusion. Today, if anyone accepts a BT all they need do is profess "weakness" and repentance and they will not be DFd. But failure to do so results in "disassociation" by their actions.
Yes, it's word play, but WT will play the game.

Is a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses marries a disfellowshipped person, what is the outcome?
by EdenOne inhello all.. i need a quick answer, and also a solid reference in the literature, please.. if a jw marries an unbeliever, there is reproof, it's frowned upon, it's disloyal, there will be loss of privileges, etc, but there's no other more serious consequences.
but, in a scenario where two people are free to marry, but one is a baptized jw and the other is disfellowshipped / disassociated, what are the consequences?.
thanks for your help.. r..

Like you'd be DFd also. After all, just "eating with such" a person merits DFing if you are unrepentant.
YMMV because it really all falls in the hands of 3 elders. If you and your family are well liked, well off, etc are the things that greatly influence their decision.

I heard they kiboshed these types of gatherings some years ago. I wonder if they might rethink that.
Never under the umbrella of being a "Congregation Event". Too much liability. Game parties are common here, but they are private events of the hosts who must obviously must assume the liability and who control who is invited and it's never the full congregation nor an open invitation. No booze. No minors without their parents.

The Reasoning Book
by Magnum inthe book reasoning from the scriptures was released in the 1980's, and it was used at virtually every meeting for service, every service meeting, and every theocratic ministry school meeting thereafter.
many jws had copies bound together with their bibles.
it was huge in jw land back then.. at that time, with the reasoning book, jws were trained to keep conversations going in spite of objections, to almost stick their feet in people's doors to keep conversations going, to defend "the truth," to argue doctrine, etc.. compare the situation today with that of the 80's.

The Reasoning Book had a section to address "False Prophets".
Interestingly, it did not mention Deut 18:18-22.
I wonder why.

Just WOW!
I usually don't take the time to listen to somewhat lengthy videos like this (22 min), but some of the comments gave me the motivation to do so and this one was definitely worth it. I had some personal ideas about what motived the beard change and the hour reporting change, but had no idea about the issues presented in this video. It's more than just believable. It makes complete sense. Follow the money!

As long as you can’t be accused of causing division in the congregation then you can openly express doubts about the governing body.
That is not the case everywhere.

If you are forced into having electric powered everything, the government can force you into compliance on everything by shutting off your supply until you comply.
