  I would bet a lot of these fast-tracked young men will fall away (their beliefs will be too weak and untested or they will just change their mind and be drawn to other things - and people - outside) or they will burn out due to lacking the maturity to pace themselves and balance their lives.

  Very good possibility. Just as you discover once you are an elder, all the shit that is shielded from the R&F and even most MS, is what you must deal with. Likewise, COs are drug into and must deal with all the major shit shows in all the Congs in their circuit.

  Psalm 3:5 -- Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

  Confessing one's sins/transgressions to God gains one His forgiveness. Further, confessing only to God does not constitute a "cover up" of those sins.

  Confessing to elders is not about being forgiven. It is about being punished by their manmade rules.

  I agree that they know what they are doing but there is nothing sophisticated in their strategy.

  Strategy? There is no long-term, pro-active strategy. Other than simply to survive, their "strategy" is merely their responses/reactions they must make to avoid financial problems with various governmental authorities around the globe.

  Every one of the recent changes is a direct response to a government inquiry, or adverse decision of a court, or taxing authority, or even a civil lawsuit, etc

  Reddit thread re Oct 2024 WT with picture of window washer - Theme knocking people who Planned

  this thread currently has over 300 comments.. it shows a picture of an older man washing a window looking wistfully… then it talks all about how some may have doubts about not having planned and the situation they are in now that they are older, etc.

  it refers to others who did plan and who supposedly have ‘apparent’ financial security.

  in my opinion, the whole gist of this article is to make older witnesses feel better who did not pursue a career or plan well for retirement.. it tries to imply that those others who planned only have ‘apparent’ financial security - which is to say they don’t (?).

  This kind of bullshit just enrages me!

  They are greedy, heartless bastards! They accept no responsibility for the hardship and suffering they cause. They take, take, take and offer NOTHING in return. Then they demonize anyone who was wise enough to ignore their bullshit and make decisions and take the course or action that created a better life for themselves and their family.

  Yet, the WT Heavies (COs, Bethel Bigshots) LOVE the JWs that have attained the financial means to flower them with gifts and wine & dine them. Yes, they deserve the expensive "nard" that Jesus received (worth one year's wages).

  most of my friends have gotten the vaccines and are quite confident that it’s just what the doctor ordered.

  i’m not confident with dr. fauci.

  i don’t like the fact that the makers of the vaccines are not held responsible if someone taking the vac develops an illness or even death.

  under the theme "help for those who are removed from the congregation" study article 35 in august 2024 wafchtower that deals with the many changes the organization introduced recenly we specifically look into paragraphs 14 and 15 that deal with the way that we now treat disfellowshipped ones, or more accurately removed ones , since this is the new term.

  and see how they still try to micromanage their members down to the finest detail and how still apostates and more accurately active apostates are public enemy number one.

  What I think has changed is their definition (not in words, but in action) of who/what is an "apostate". I think the term has broadened out considerably. It's not just the kooky DF JW who stands outside convention venues wearing sandwich boards defaming the bOrg.

  It can now be applied to anyone who chose to go "inactive" (insert FADE here) and makes no effort to return but continues on happily in life -- no depression card, no financial or personal difficulties causing discouragement -- but just goes on in life smiling and living life to the fullest. Such a person has no REASON to be inactive but CHOICE. Why would anyone CHOOSE to be inactive? APOSTATE!

  Members of congregation know it’s not true

  we have lonely old folks and even some not so old.. they know the gb are not who they claim to be.. but they stay in the congregation because they are lonely.

  i wonder what percentage of jws this is the case, i would guess a lot.

  they said “ it is better to be wrong & inside the Truth than to be “right outside “ it ….

  I recall a brother -- not sure if he was an elder at the time but he was eventually until he resigned and only would agree to be a MS -- who commented that even if it was found to be all wrong it was still the best way of life for him, as he would likely be dead if he had continued on in his former lifestyle.

  I do think that is possibly all true. He had been quite the carouser and shit disturber as a young guy. But he was now a wife & father and a sincere guy. IDK why he decided he no longer wanted to be an elder, however serving as a MS was OK. Perhaps it was the "judging" others thing. Or, maybe he actually came to know that it "is all wrong" but he wanted to stay with the Blue Pill.

  • And probably because of the community of friends it gives them.

  • Being a JW you are able to make "instant" friends by the dozens. ALL other JWs are your friends, and that's especially if you are a "prominent" brother or his wife or children. Then all the average JWs want to be in your company or presence. It helps even more if you are well-off financially.
  • When you leave (or are tossed out), the first thing you learn is that they all were "conditional" friends. We all quickly discovered that. Secondly, you learn that it is not that easy to make REAL friends. It's something that requires great effort. You have to be a friend too. And, you have to be a person or have something about you that attracts others to want to be in your company. It just is not "automatic".
