In the past I know WT has provided a private residence for an attorney and his family who relocated while he volunteered his time at Patterson.
I also know of local JW attorneys (those who must had disobeyed counsel about higher education) have assisted in insignificant local cases and likely did so free of charge.
The private (non-JW) attorneys that are hired for cases that risk huge settlements/judgements are likely paid hourly, just like anyone else pays them. Perhaps they get a discount for their "charitable" status, or even pro bono work, but I suspect they "lawyer up" and just pay the price for attorneys who specialize in issues like CSA.

I would bet a lot of these fast-tracked young men will fall away (their beliefs will be too weak and untested or they will just change their mind and be drawn to other things - and people - outside) or they will burn out due to lacking the maturity to pace themselves and balance their lives.

Confessing one's sins/transgressions to God gains one His forgiveness. Further, confessing only to God does not constitute a "cover up" of those sins.

I agree that they know what they are doing but there is nothing sophisticated in their strategy.
Strategy? There is no long-term, pro-active strategy. Other than simply to survive, their "strategy" is merely their responses/reactions they must make to avoid financial problems with various governmental authorities around the globe.
Every one of the recent changes is a direct response to a government inquiry, or adverse decision of a court, or taxing authority, or even a civil lawsuit, etc
There strategy is best described as Wack-A-Mole.

in my opinion, the whole gist of this article is to make older witnesses feel better who did not pursue a career or plan well for retirement.. it tries to imply that those others who planned only have ‘apparent’ financial security - which is to say they don’t (?).

under the theme "help for those who are removed from the congregation" study article 35 in august 2024 wafchtower that deals with the many changes the organization introduced recenly we specifically look into paragraphs 14 and 15 that deal with the way that we now treat disfellowshipped ones, or more accurately removed ones , since this is the new term.
and see how they still try to micromanage their members down to the finest detail and how still apostates and more accurately active apostates are public enemy number one.
What I think has changed is their definition (not in words, but in action) of who/what is an "apostate". I think the term has broadened out considerably. It's not just the kooky DF JW who stands outside convention venues wearing sandwich boards defaming the bOrg.
It can now be applied to anyone who chose to go "inactive" (insert FADE here) and makes no effort to return but continues on happily in life -- no depression card, no financial or personal difficulties causing discouragement -- but just goes on in life smiling and living life to the fullest. Such a person has no REASON to be inactive but CHOICE. Why would anyone CHOOSE to be inactive? APOSTATE!
