Sabrina and Big Tex, I am an agnostic. However, I would never try to convince you to change your beliefs. I find your sincerety and heart-felt faith to be very refreshing and inspiring. I wish you and others of your understanding, the very best.

What is Christmas to an Ex-JW?
by Amazing inwhat is christmas to you?
if you were raised a jw, as my children were, getting used to christmas takes time, and does not carry with it any memories.
for others who became jws later in life, it took time to get over christmas and learn to discredit the custom and lose feelings for it, and in some cases even learn to hate christmas as an evil pagan evoluton of apostate christianity.. .

Brother Outa, I am sending you some tulip bulbs, because I know they are sorely needed where you live. In exchange, please send me several lobsters, because they are rare where I live. I think that would be a fair trade.

Well, my name is Carl, and Lare are the same letters, just turned around. I like Larc because it is whimsical and I like to joke around.

Page 2, of the 2004 yearbook."the great tribulation".
by Blueblades inpage 2 introduces the 2004 yeartext.. "keep on the watch...prove yourselves ready.
"-----matthew 24:42,44.. consistently, god's word reminds us that jehovah's day will arrive with shocking suddenness.hence, our yeartext for 2004 reflects jesus' deep love for his disciples, whom he wants to preserve through "the great tribulation.
how do we remain spiritually watchful and ready?by allowing nothing to distract us from our study of god's word and from our privileges of sacred service.this yearbook contains many examples of loyal witnesses, who took to heart jesus' loving admonition.may you imitate their faith.. feel free to comment on this introduction to the new yearbook of 2004.. my comment is that they still believe that fear of the great tribulation will still work to keep the rank and file in line.and it is only by our study of god's word ( notice our study is not explained to say, through the interpretation of the governing body ) and from our privileges of sacred service ( again notice, how do they define sacred service, full time ministry ,bethel life, pioneering and door to door work is all a privilege along with meeting attendance is left out ).

Blueblades, they should take what they wrote put it on a computer, and print it about every five years. The Witnesses wouldn't notice the difference. This is the same stuff they have written for over a 120 years. It is like going back in time to read this once again. I read the same stuff as a child back in the 1940's.

Anyone here got to meetup meetings for ex jws?
by Eyebrow2 in.
i never got a chance to when i was in new england..but see they have things down here in texas as well.. i was just wondering if any of you have gone to any meet up activity...even if it is not jw related..

Those "meet ups' on the computer don't seem to work very well. I think the apostofests advertised here are much better. I went to one and there were twelve of us. We had a real good time.

Are You Intuitive?
by darkuncle29 inhave any here had experiences they'd be willing to share?.
do you have a sense of intuition?
or is it more of a 'hit or miss' thing for you?.
-
larc
No, I am not intuitive. I am analytical by nature. Both intuitive and analytical skills can serve a person well. I know that analytical skills have seved me very well. There is no right or wrong personality profile. It is how you use it.

Joker, in your stats, I think you should include me among the employed. I am retired now, but was employed; that should count. By the way, I was a college professor for the last 16 years of my career, and had other interesting jobs before that.

Aztec, I wanted to tell you a story about the overqulified situation. I have been retired for the last four years. Last year, I noticed an ad in the paper for teaching a particular course. It was at a small, local community college. I went for an interveiw. The guy told me that I wouldn't be hired, because as soon as the chance came along I would leave and teach at a big school. That was not my intent. Hell, I just wanted to teach one term, but I could not convince him of that.
