In 1938, they took in a married woman who abandoned her husband back in Ohio. She did not start as a house keeper. She started on Rutherford's staff as his "dietician". She travelled with him to European conventions in the summer and went with him to Beth Sarim in the winter. I guess she was an acception to the rule back in those days.

VM44, Armageddon Around the Corner was written by W.J. Walen in 1962. The publisher was John Day Co. Regarding Rutherford's nurse. She would better be described as a dietician. She had no formal education beyond high school. She was more than a friend of the family. She was my mother's aunt. I only saw her on rare occasions when she came to Ohio to visit relatives. She did not talk about Rutherford on those visits. As I have mentioned before, she probably was Rutherford's mistress.

Witness World Response to Apostates
by DevonMcBride inbelow is what was posted on witness world by polly pan.
i took euphemism's advice and others to protect my identity.
about a week ago it was brought to administrations attention that there may be apostates lurking on our board, as a precautionary measure we deleted 107 members who had never posted since they joined.

Another thing I thought I would throw into the pot. My mother's aunt was Rutherford's mistress. You can email me at [email protected] and I will send you the details.

I have told my story before, but since there are a lot of new people, I thought I would tell it again. (Please forgive the fact that I can't do paragraphs, because for some reason webtv doesnt' work here.) I was born a JW, or close to it. My mother became a Witness when I was four. My father was serving in WWII at the time. (I am 63 now.) My father came back to a very different woman than he married. She was against everything he fought for. He was very upset, as you can understand, but eventually he just accepted the situation. My mother raised me and my sister, and my father worked and worked overtime. He had no ability to contribute to my upbringing, because of the strong influence of my mother. When I was ten, my mother had her first "nervous breakdown". At the time, they did not know how to treat her, and she spent three months in a mental hospital, where she received shock treatments. Many years later, when they discovered Lithium, they put her on this and she totally calmed down. Well, I continued through my childhood, into high school as a true believer. In the year after high school, I met a person of my same age who told me that the JW's used to believe in the Great Pryamid, as prediction of our times. I thought that idea was preposterous, but I checked it out, and found out that he was right. After that discovery, I went through several stages over a period of seven years - from true believer, to believer with minor doubts, to believer with major doubts, to nonbeliever who wanted to believe, to a total nonbeliever. That was many years ago, before the internet, and before the major books were written on the subject. At the time, there only two books, "Fourty Years a Watchtower Slave" and "Armageddon Around the Corner. I do not have the emotional pain that some of you have. I have been out for forty plus years, and my life has moved on. I still do have residual effects. My sister is a Witness. Fortunatly, we are on good terms. My wife's sister and father are Witnesses. We are also on good terms with them as well. In my sister's case, it took 15 years before we reconnected, but we eventually did.

I coming to your part of the country in the spring, and was thinking about the places where I went out to eat, to see if our list had any comminality. I will send you a private email, because my list would just bore everyone else to death.

Almost a year later, and I am still angry...
by DanTheMan insome of you may remember that last march i was nearly fired from my job.
what happened was that i was having a casual, seemingly friendly conversation with a girl who i had once dated, but the conversation seemed to take a wrong turn when i told her that i was sorry things hadn't worked out between us.
her negative reaction (conveyed via body language) told me to change the subject, which i immediately did.

(As promised) BETHEL TRIP part 7. Loosing my balance
by seven006 inas i was trying to settle into my new life i constantly plagued myself with questions about where i had been and a bigger question, where i was going.
in the mid eighties there wasn't easy access to any exjw's to ask questions and help me through a very difficult transition in my life.
today the internet offers a lot of support through a large collection of exjw's from all over the world who offer many various options based on their own personal experience on where to go once you are out of the cult.

Your story is heart wrenching, Seven006. It brought a tear to my eye, and that his unusual for this crusty old man. I love you, and I am so glad that you survived all that. Also, your writing ability is truely outstanding. I am in awe of your writing skills.

As several have indicated, and I agree, another organization is out of the question for me. I am on my own, and I like it that way. I am very anti-organizational. Probabley hurt my career, but I don't give a flying fork. I did it my way, as Frank Sinatra and Elvis used to sing.

Joker, I agree with you that it is the right and the opbligation of a parent to raise their child as best they can, according to their beliefs. I certainly do disagree with you regarding the distance that a true believer can put between a child and a non believer. You have read several testamonials, and I could add mine. The idea of causing a mother to put enmity between the child and the father is not "plain stupidity". It is often a fact of life. Joker, you have never lived it. I wish you would try to understand it.
