Intellectual Honesty vs Spiritual Claims
by Amazing1914 inour fellow poster, aguest, made the following comment in her recent post titled: hearing god/christ - not "rocket science":"because we are such physical creatures, drawn to the empirical, we have great difficulty understanding, believing or even imagining anything that is not physical or discernable by our physical senses.
"empirical" refers to that which is realized by the five senses: sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing.
to the pure empiricalist (or, experientialist, if you will), that which cannot be seen, touched, tasted, smelled or heard... with one or more of the parts of our physical bodies that perceive these... it does not exist.".

I respect both Amazing and Aguest in expressing their point of view. I think they are both good people. They are very different in their opinions, but they are both good people.

Jim, that was a great piece of work. I have many thoughts swirling through my mind. Once I get them sorted out I will write a response. PS, I am glad that you included researchers in you list of the good guys, because you know that,is what I am doing. My attending the conference in Chicago and meeting you as well, was a great experience.

Yeru, My worst time was teaching a video taped graduate course. There were 180 students out there. It took me an hour just to open all the mail. Then I had a stack of paper standing about two foot high. It was grim.

I was discussing this just last week with a guy. He was an art major in college. Like me, he did not care for abstract art. If you want to see some junk, look at the work of Kevin Pollack. When I was young, I was intimidated by the artsy types. Now, I judge art by my own tastes. Some I don't like at all, some I like, but not want to have in my house, and some I would like to buy and take home.

For those who want some humor, stress is the conflict between mind and body. Your mind tells you not to, but your body tells you that you want to kick the living shit out of someone.

Detective, I know what you mean. It is a great feeling to see your work in print. I also know about the years in takes sometimes. My reserch took two years. It took another two years of collaboration with my freind to get it all together. At this point, we will probably publish another five manuscripts over the next two years. Also, we are presenting three poster sessions on our work at a professional conference in April in Chicago. I am busier now that I am retired than when I was working.

Do you ever get this kind of post flyin into your head?
by Celtic inhow often, do you go to say something, right at the last blinkin nanosecond, you reign in your tongue and hold the thought silently, for one reason or another?.
too, how often do you go, think to yourself, hell, that'd make one hec of a good post, only to retract the thought at the last second, and then you are left to wonder, at the opinions never expanded upon because of your own rejection of your own set of words?.
i was just wondering that, that was all.. celty who loves aunty grace & loks forwards when weather warms up tad, to taking photos of beautiful flowers for hers and other ladies benefit.. the celtic balmpot

Well, I have made mistakes in two directions. Sometimes, I have said things in the real world or posted things in the cyber world that I later regretted. Sometimes, I have not spoken up when I should have.
