Roybatty, you make some very good points- - enjoyed your story. But I totally understand where Biggs is coming from. I think he just wants to leave on his own terms. If you can fade and still be free to talk to family and "friends" ( what an awfull shame that it's that way), I think that's the best way to go, for many anyway. Me --I stopped going about 6mos ago, although I did go to the memorial -- big mistake. The C.O. and an elder came to my house 2 weeks later, we had been out all night at a party. I was awoken by my son saying, "Daddy those people you know are here", they came in, we talked for an hour. Not exactlly in the condition to talk about my "doubts", but we did. I don't think they will be around for awhile :). I was a little coy though, really don't want to get da'd. It would be a pain in the ass.

Question for the musically inclined 'annointed'
by LizardSnot inwhat can i say...i love music.. revelations 14:3 talks about the 144,000 and how they sing a song that no one else can learn but them.. 3 and they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders.
no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
my question is....do the members of the 'annointed' class already know that song.

Hello Glory, I'm new too, this place is cool. Alot of different points a view. To think that at one time we were all "unified in belief" ..hard to believe. I'm not affilliated or looking for any religion. Still trying to sort it all out. My kids recently attended ther first B-day party. They are adjusting well, better than me prolly. Anyway, looking forward to more posts. Nice pic.

Were you always guilt-ridden?
by MoeJoJoJo indid you ever stop feeling constantly guilty while you were in the org?
i never did, no matter how much i was doing as far as field service & meeting attendance it never felt like enough.
i never felt like i was doing enough, ever; even though we were at all of the meetings faithfully, with three young children, which was no easy task.. .

Sadly, I think guilt was the overwhelming motivator in my life. Especially through my teens and twenties. "I't's not about how much 'time' you get brother. It's about serving Jehovah whole souled. Now I'm gonna show you from the bound volume that "whole souled" equals: At least the national average, all the meetings and conventions, being an "example"... blah, blah......" I was fading away in my heart and mind years before I did in body. As I did, the guilt subsided. But I have to admit I still feel what I know is an inordinate amount of guilt. Old habits die hard.

Classless American Behavior
by Pathofthorns ini was watching the hockey game yesterday and i thought i heard 'booing' during canada's national anthem.
earlier in the week the same thing occurred during the raptor's playoff game.. as some are aware canada has been mourning and burying their 4 dead soldiers due to the incompetence of an american fighter pilot who dropped a bomb on them while they were carrying out training exercises.
flags are flying at half-mast as canadians try to make sense of such a careless mistake.. i find it hard to believe any civilized person would show such disrespect to another country to 'boo' them during their national anthem at any time, and more so during a time of mourning because of death caused directly by american hands.. i sincerely hope american media chastised their countrymen who showed such insensitive, classless, ignorant and disrespectful behavior to their neighbours.

Larc, with all due respect (to your supreme status) - booing is free speach. Bad taste, uncool, but still their right. Surely you don't think they should be arrested. Some other american should have, however, used they're freedom to holler "Jackass!" to those booing, but there are bungholes in every country and when they get drunk at a hockey game their stupidity is amplified. Francois, that was a pitiful display, people booing Canada's anthem. I also agree Canada's anthem is superior, musically speaking.

Do you blame your parents?
by sleepy indo you blame your parents for bringing you up as witnesses?.
do you tink they sould have known better, or do you feel sorry for them?.
i used to think how lucky i was to be born into a family that had the truth.. now i wonder, how could my parents have fallen fot it?.

I don't blame them. That's not to say that I don't regret the choices they made at that time. Sometimes I feel I missed out on some things. Okay I DID miss out, but maybe I missed out on some bad things too. Who knows? Anyway I'm lucky (oops fortunate), no lucky damn it. Both my parents left it and were there for me when I finally wised up. Btw , this forum is great. Leaving the org can be very painful, it's nice to have some NORMAL bro's and sis'. Well mostly normal :)

Is The Governing Body EVIL?
by jst2laws ini am going to stick my neck out and postulate that the gb is not evil .
nor is the watchtower society as a whole.
i'm sorry this got a little long but please accept the challenge and show me wrong.

I think comparing the GB to the Taliban is quite a stretch. I also think we all should consider that although they have great influence over many peoples lives, those people influenced, in the vast majority, accept that influence. Wether they claim to be God's sole channel on earth or not, those who believe theyn are, ultimately make that choice to believe for themselves. I know many would say, "Well, what about the children who suffer through no choice of their own?" To that question I answer "Well, what about those children's parents who foolishly followed a dogma that would harm their own children?" I know, for me, I decided shortly after my first kid was born, that there would be no way that I would deny my children a blood transfusion if I thought it was the best chance they had to save their life. This was 8 years before I stopped believing in "The Truth". I just decided that I was not convinced enough, about the blood issue, to risk my child's life. Everybody wants to dehumanize those men on the GB. But really we were all right there with them. Yes, to a much smaller degree, but still. The sad truth is people suffer and even die for their religion. That is not unique to JW's. But if we are pissed off at the lives that we lived in the past, we really only have one place to look. The Mirror. If we were a minor child when we had a miserable JW life, then look in the mirror, then look at Mom and Dad.
