Thanks you so much for posting that Sirona! I shall definetely use it.
when a jw tells you christmas is pagan, therefore you shouldnt celebrate it, you can refer them to this article.
it is discussing wallpaper and other home decorations and what sorts are acceptable.. *** g76 12/22 14 are they idolatrous decorations?
so the christian needs to be primarily concerned about what?

just wanted to post to say hi and introduce myself.
im a female whose favorite family member had fought against jws all her life, then died a few years ago.
her children are now being raised as jws against her will.
Morrigan,
Welcome!
I have to say that you sound like one special person....to endure a JW Bible study "to help the children". That is so good of you.

i have a problem looming over me, so i thought that i would throw it open for discussion on this forum in the hope of finding a solution.
any help would be much appreciated.
every easter, her ladyship and i take a weeks activity break on the isle of madeira.
Englishman……….I have the solution!
We should cancel Centre parcs Apostofest, and WE should all go with you and your Ladyship!
Then, you can tell them that it will be all ex-JW’s, and they really wouldn’t have that much fun atall
What do you think? Good solution isn’t it??
No, seriously I have been in a similar situation where a large party (12+ ) were arranging to go on holiday together, and thinking that we could just slip away and do our own thing amongst such a large party, we agreed to go. THEN everyone, except the couple who were arranging the holiday and ourselves, dropped out of the planned holiday. It was no longer the type of holiday we envisioned……….so we did the deed….and dropped out also. It really didn’t go down too well, as the focus seemed to be on us!
Is there no chance of the hotel being booked up? (school term time) Could you not stay in some remote farm accommodation that only sleeps TWO?
I wish you well on this one.

this is sort of a continuation of threads on dubs and how they are conditioned to discipline their children.
someone questioned whether the society actually encouraged dubs to whup their children.
i only had enough time to dig up a few salient quotes from the wt magazine.
Farkel,
Thanks for posting those articles. I was so bothered about ‘spanking’ in the K.H that it was def. one of the thing’s that made me leave. I felt physically sick each time a child was taken out for a smack (English term for Spanking) I did my own research on the subject and was horrified at the ‘old’ stuff which they printed…truly gross.
I have come to the conclusion that the org. is def. stuck in the idea that smacking is the way. Just as they are stuck with the idea that anyone who isn’t an active JW is an ENEMY. (those that have left) Yes, they are stuck in the past.
I have also concluded that the writers of these articles have probably never had children of their own. So, who are they to offer one word of advice on the important issue of disciplining someone else’s child??????????
The new ones that come along do observe the ‘take out for a smack’ routine, and often carry on this cycle. I have seen it myself…..sad.

ok, so i became a jw when i was in my mid 20's.
i was in my prime.. i was so busy being a witness, taking in the truth, pioneering bla bla bla that i feel like i've missed out on life totally.
now i'm pushing 40 and i'm tired.
Jo,
Welcome!
Care to share with us just what helped you to leave?
I know some wonderful young people who are giving there all......I wish they would wake up.
Looking forward to hearing more from you1

one of the things many of us faced as we left the wts was the loss of respect from witnesses that we may have really liked.
some may point to us as those who have lost jehovah's spirit and blessing in their life, and are suffering the consequences.
these can be hard issues to face.. yesterday i was discussing these ideas with a psychologist friend, and later with my wife.
Jt,
You jogged my memory when you mentioned beach front property! A friend once told me that he has just missed bumping into one of the GB who was staying ..……at a top hotel in the Caribbean! (the doorman was a JW who had recognized him, and told my friend). What a life they must have!
Yes, I bought myself a ‘T’ shirt with ‘Material Girl’ all over it when I left, as I knew that that is one of the accusations they would throw at me/us (hahaha) As if we would be so stupid to put material things before E.Life. !!! Materialism is such over-used word IMHO. If you have a Computer………….MATERIALISM! LOL
Yes, I too feel sorry for them......and the me I used to be.

What a load that has been taken off!
I really love to go to the supermarket on a Tuesday evening, as I often meet a witness rushing around after the group (hehehe).
