What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

Lies taught by the GB about ....Life, Worldy people & apostates
by williamhconley inthe governing body not only lies to it's members about their true history but also about life itself, worldly people and former members.. here are some of those lies that come to my mind.. .
"jw's are the happiest people on earth" -.
fact: depression, anxiety, fear of punishment, paranoia, is what jw's live with every day.

Disfellowshipped daughter not told of father's death
by dozy inmy wife was informed by her father that an old jw friend had died so she decided to text his daughter ( who lives abroad & is disfellowshipped ) her condolences.
immediately the daughter phoned my wife in great anguish as she hadnt been informed that her father had died ( bearing in mind this event had happened 3 days previously.
) of course any chance that she might have had for coming over for the funeral had past.. her two brothers are elders and her sister is a regular pioneer but not one of them had thought to let their sister know.

If you don't want to reveal anything, then why even mention it at all?

So where is all this supposed worldwide persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Reality79 infor years, it was drummed into our heads that the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one who hates us and a result, mankind particularly hates the jws with a passion.. now that i think about it, i've seen very little evidence of that.
i mean yes, in places like malawi, germany and some other countries the witnesses have been through real persecution - not the type that the average dub would call it like doors being slammed in the face.
but what have they experienced that many other religions in other countries haven't?
-
Reality79
Yep, they always mouth off, then those on the front lines get the brunt of it.

Most Irritating Thing About The Jw's
by integ infor me it is the smugness.
it's their inability and refusal to admit they are wrong....ever...even in the face of irrefutable evidence.
isn't pride a sin?

I don't post very often, but this is an excellent thread.
I sensed this very same attitude from a witness family in one of my old congregations who I had the misfortune of being in the vicinity at the supermarket just a little earlier today. They didn't say anything to me of course, but you could sense the air of superiority in their aura. Those type of attitudes were a strong reminder as to why I left in the first place.

Another elder came and told me I'm not an apostate and no-one can judge me.
by Julia Orwell ini'll call him bear, like teddy bear because he's big and nice.
bear's the coboe, an intelligent but jittery man who suffers from a host of anxiety disorders.
he 'just happened' to be driving down my street after the group, and 'just happened' to notice i was at home, tending to some animals.

Sorry, I personally wouldn't trust him. The stuff he was saying sounds too good to be true. When I was on my out, a 'brother' I thought I was good friends wuth used to talk as if he knew the score, but it was all just a smokescreen and he ended up showing his true colours when he realised I just wasn't gonna budge. Him and his wife no longer speak to me and these were people I thought were my close friends.
I agree with another poster who said life has made them cynical, cos I feel the same way. You have to be extra wary and cautious as well as realistic.
No true elder really talks like that. It sounds like a ploy to me.
