WORLDS APART~TEEN JW MOVIETONIGHT ON SUNDANCE @ 7 EST.

i was just flipping through the channels to find something for the woman i care for to watch, and i came across a movie tonight on the sundance channel called, "worlds apart".

it is about a jehovah's witness teen who falls in love with someone who is not.. although i can't watch it now, i am taping it.

i couldn't look to see if it is a documentary of sorts, but i bet it will be interesting to say the least.. it's on at 7 pm tonight, eastern.

Bin Laden was a rabid dog. He's not like the innocent guy standing near a train track. Would a person, no matter what their morality is based on, push a man on the tracks to stop a train and save 5 lives? Probably NOT. Why, because well-being is measured in much more than loss of life. Well-being also considers quality of life. Are we the kind of people that willingly sacrifices an innocent for the sake of other innocents? In one act? I don't think so---that would not be good for the overall well-being of all.

This study and argument are a bit ridiculous because it takes into account only 2 or possibly 3 factors. It does not take into account the complexity of us as people, and the millions of things we consider when making decisions. Program a computer with the tiny sliver of what was considered in this study, and you'll get the same answer as humans filling out a survey will say. In real life though---when all other factors come into play---well we don't see people throwing innocents onto railroad tracks.

Then we have to change the context--another boatload of variables are introduced. Move the decision from the rr tracks and put it in the context of war! Then we see many people---many god fearing people kissing crosses and holding government issued bibles for luck---killing innocents in their beds. This study is so flawed, I don't even know how we can even argue it.

Morality can exist without a god. Or a goddess. Or an ancestral spirit. I like his point that those that don't believe in a supernatural being are moral out of CHOICE, and those that do are moral out of being told their choice. Another good point, to us in the West, it is terribly immoral to fly planes into the Trade Centers. But to those that believe as the terrorists did, they did as God told them and were incredibly moral.

Awakes were everwhere!

sunday i visited a local resturant in a strip-mall type of setup.

several business were closed over the weekend.

while leaving i noticed the next door had something stuck in the handle.

Wobble! This is a great idea. I recently had the privilege of disposing of my first Awake found in a public place, but I'm going to do this now! Hell---maybe I'll have a rubberstamp made up and simply start stamping it everywhere! LOL It will look more official and won't be noticed from a quick glance. I have a dream of slipping into a hall and attacking the literature they plan to place with my stamp!

this is like the third time it happens!!...

so i am a corporate trainer and meet lots of new people every week... i always click w one or two of my students but for the last 2 classes i have clicked with two jws!!!

i did not know they where jws and they have no idea i am da'd... but after i befriended them on fb i realized ohhh ish!!!

Phil Donahue at kingdom hall

omg, one of my friends who hasn't removed me from her list eventhough i shoot down all the jw propaganda she sends me, sent me an email about phil donahue visiting a kingdom hall, with pics and all.. they claim he said that jw have done more for human rights during ww2 then any other group in america.. is this true?

has anyone else heard about this?.

i want to send phil the letter where the jw's wrote to hilter to tell them they don't like the jews either.. .

I used to watch Phil. I remember him saying once that he was never prouder of his government as when they upheld the right of JW's not to salute the flag. I wasn't even a JW yet, but for some reason, I always remembered that. I think he has always had a favorable impression of them. Surely he only sees the good stuff.

the past few months we've welcomed a lot of newbies who have contributed a lot to this forum.

some quality discussions are taking place, the likes of which i haven't seen here for a while.

in addition, many are taking action to expose the watchtower society for who they really are.

i have a cousin that is born-in but never went for the jw's throughout her entire childhood and until this day, she's 30 now.

her dad is an uber elder and her 2 sisters are very devoted as well.

now she's talking about "going back" to the kh etc because she thinks now this is the place she belongs.. my question is: she's living with someone "in sin"; has a fb page; goes to rock/rap music concerts all the time etc.

Wha---send your friend here. Love bombing feels great---let her know what it feels like to be shunned. Warn her the love bombing just stops when they got her.

As long as she's not baptized, she's 'allowed' to do all those things. But the pressure will be on for her to get married and go out in service. She won't be allowed to go out in service as long as she lives with her boyfriend. I don't know about the FB page---there are a lot of warnings, but as far as I can tell, it's not a judicial issue. Witnesses still have them, but some are 'moved' to delete them after having it hammered in their heads for a weekend. I see them reactivated all the time.

So if she 'progresses' to wanting to be baptized, she will make all these changes, and she will think she made the decision herself for Jehovah. I don't think they'll consider her for baptism unless she works in service, so the changes will likely come quite a while before baptism.
