i've been thinking about the change in this doctrine and i'm not sure i fully understand it.
can someone explain it?.
also was'nt there other changes made before in regards to this generation doctrine?
I haven't been around the old hall for 3 years now, but the last understanding I had was that the scripture referred to THAT generation of Christians. So we are in the generation of those people which does NOT have a starting date. The date started in 1914 but can go on for hundreds of years if necessary.
I may have this wrong, but I think I'm close....
just when i thought i was almost over being angry my "brothers" got my blood going again.
my wife and i were polite, saying at first it was good to see them after so long and the first thing the elder in the group said was..."well you know where to find us, at the kingdom hall.
" well normally i'm fairly mild mannered, but, that just got under my skin.
Now about that showing up thing, my wife was so angry this week that she had me repair our gate and she is LOCKING it for tomorrow morning. We only get our old "brothers" on saturday mornings around here. NEVER during hunting season of course!!!

As one of the newer "wasters of space" I can honestly say that a couple of years ago I would have jumped on your bandwagon. Now, the anger is gone replaced by dissapointment in myself that I was dumb enough to get involved.
I enjoy lighthearted threads (or crap) as I get to associate with like minded people here.

i did and things didn't work out so well.
actually they worked out fine, i switched teams.
For me the turning point wasn't so much the anger on boards, but the way witnesses in general treat each other. So much gossip, back biting. That was the start. Then the more I learned about the society and reflected on all the "new lights" the more I realized that Jehovah doesn't change his mind. 607 bothered me a lot. Blood bothered me a lot. Then I began to get angry. I was angry that I had fallen for this at an age when I should have more suspicious.
A year after I left my wife left. What caused her to leave was the way people talked about me right in front of her. She knows how I am and they seemed to paint me the evil one who turned his back on Jehovah.
The anger is dying down. I'm unhappy that my son is stuck at this point in time. But I feel he will wake up eventually. He has a new baby and I'm sad when I think of the life this young boy will lead if he isn't led out. I try not to speak of things in front of my son as it only angers him (there's that anger again) but I did ask him if he would give his son blood to save his life. He did think deeply about this and said "you do that for me dad".

Actually they worked out fine, I switched teams. I can honestly say though that it wasn't the board that changed me. I recall lots of attacks and angry people, then, before you knew it, I was one of those angry people. So things have worked out, the anger is leaving and so did I.
to those who have been before a judicial committee for apostacy.. the elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can df you.. at my appeal hearing serveral months ago i was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original dfing stand.. after they were finished with their questions i ask if i could now defend myself and prove that i was telling the truth and not a biblical apostate.. the chairman informed me that i would not be allowed to defend myself.. i looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.
to them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.. wow.. the chairman said they really were not a judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the bible.
in fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.. .
Speaking of defending yourself does anyone know of a particular case where you can bring an attorney in? I suppose if you refuse to show up unless you attorney is there will just get you DFed regardless. Still I just wonder if those brothers would sweat over this point or not?
how many of you were ever "stumbled" as a jw?
i always thought that claiming you were "stumbled" was just an excuse to stop going to meetings etc.

While I never felt stumbled, lots of others thought I was. At the time I left there was a horrible man appointed as a servant and they all thought that did if for me. While I'm sure it was a factor, it obviously wasn't the entire story. They just wanted to believe it was something simple I guess.
