i've been thinking alot lately about how my life sucks.

i guess everyone is entitled to disliking their life a little, but the holiday is really starting to get me down.

that's strange becaue it used to be my favorite time of the year!

Anyhow, indireneed, why don't you try using some of their own articles against them? Mainly the ones encouraging women to 'stand by their man' and further directing them that the 'man is the head of the house.'

I'm sure if you posted your questions in the research forum, many would be glad to help you find quotes from some magazine articles or books.

JW's and Chronic Fatigue Syndrone!

chronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.

i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation,outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone,although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness,percentage wise it seems that jws have a much,much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties,his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?

Sleepy, no one doubts that the mind/body connection exists. Sign me up, as my mother has these two 'diseases' and various others. I know well that her mental state has contributed to her (negative) belief in her health.

Also, her impression that "the new system" is the ONLY thing that will bring her any relief also gives her an excuse to not properly care for her body now.

Her diet sucks, her exercise regiment is non-existent.

There is a word I'm thinking of but I didn't get much sleep last night. It means that your mental state of being can affect your physical health, that's what JWs have. Esp the women.

How many JW women do you know that hit the gym once a week, much less three times?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! WHOSE economy is it good for?

Certainly not the rank and file JW who have to clean goddamn toilets and save money they should be going on vacation with to attend a three day seminar!

Many in the congregationcan barely afford to get there, and now that they've taken away the food/donation arrangement (which certainly helped the poorest of the bros.) there is nothing but worry worry worry about where the money to attend is going to come from!

Sex is good

i never cease to be amazed at how people react to sex, images of sex and conversation about sex.. even many of my homosexual friends just cringe at the mention of sex even within a small group of all males.. people online describe sex as naughty, nasty, dirty.. well, i simply don't view sex that way and never will.

sex between two (or more) willing consenting adult partners is fun, healthy and can bring these people closer together, if they just let it.. i think maybe so many people view sex as bad because so many people use coercion or exploitation to get people to have sex with them and i agree this is terribly bad.

especially is this true when it involves a minor.

What girls really need to be taught is that being taken advantage of is bad, whether in a sexual way or any way. Its the exploitation that is bad, not the sexual act.

You're absolutely right, Joel! But there's still at least two generations of women out there who never learned to enjoy sex, and they will still try to tell the younger generation how 'bad' sex is, etc etc.

Personally, I'm planning to advocate HEALTHY CHOICES to my 11 y.o. daughter. And it will probably kill me inside when I find out she's wanting to be sexually active. But god damnit all, I'm gonna put on a happy face and take her to the doctor straight away for some birth control.

We've been having 'talks' (she doesn't know this) for YEARS about choosing the right boyfriend. And now that she's in middle school, hormone hell, she's starting to show an interest in boys.

You are right. After the third day of bombing, the US military said it was running out of 'valuable targets'. Most of Afghanistan IS civilian mud huts!

However, when viewing the 'before' and 'after' pictures of Afghanistan, it really doesn't look all that different to me. This country IS mudhuts. Whether civilian or gorvernmental!

Please tell me you're not beleiving the TALIBAN?!?!?

Thank God my 11 y.o. is going to marching band competition and not to some damn religious convention this weekend.

i'm pondering whether to go back to my congregation of record and make an issue of my departure, or just carry on with my new and happy non-jw life.. i'm sure that there are many here who have followed each of these paths.. what advice would you offer?

Actually, the method that scares them the most is the immediate drift away technique.

Just STOP going to meetings, service, whatever, all at once. Then when they come around to 'encourage' you, rebuff them by saying you're very happy with your spirituality and not in need of a visit!

They won't know what to make of it.

The worst is how the individuals will treat you. Since you're not DFd or DAd, they won't know what to make of a well-adjusted, successful and happy human being who has no need of the Kingdumb Hall!

When you see them in public, speak boldly. Be friendly.

It'll confuse the hell out of em. That's what I did. I did it so good it even worked on the internet where I had a reputation as a dyed in the wool dub. LOL.

was america king of south (if i remember rightly) & russia king of north?
