this is what the guest speaker was saying at my wife's hall yesterday.

she and i was babysitting our niece and since she had three kids going to the hall with her (including my two daughters) i figured i'd go with her to help out.

they were rambuctious and wild to say the least.. while i was in the hallway with my youngest daughter, i continued to listen to the speaker talk.

An elder told me "We don't judge. Only Jehovah is the one who judges".

They lie through their teeth everytime they say this, I just want to slap them everytime this comes out of their mouth. JW's always say that they don't judge, because that job is left up to Jehovah, but if God says "Hate what is bad", meaning people with tattoos, people who smoke, homosexuals, people who have sex before marriage, people who live together etc.., then the JW's are supposed to do exactly that, meaning all the latter I just named could truly good people in their hearts, but since God has deemed all this bad, then the JW's in fact will look down on you and be very harsh towards people, but then have the nerve to say they don't judge...please, my mother was just having a phone conversation with her JW sister putting down a worldly woman because she chose to live with her boyfriend without being married.

How have your opinions changed?

how have your opinions changed on subjects like premarital sex, gay marriage, higher education, music, smoking, interfaith marriage etc... and do you think they have changed for the better?

personally i feel like everybody has the right to choose their own path, free to make their own choices outside of the jw's and everybody within their religion needs to deal with it and move on, like they expect everyone else to do when they made the choice to become a jw.. i have no problem with homosexuality, seeing that i'm bisexual myself; i used to hate it when my mother would get angry with me because i wouldn't tell my gay friends that it was wrong and disgusting and one day god was gonna killl them kill them for it, when she knew i was too, it was hypocracy at it's finest.

smoking is so not a moral choice to me, it's a health choice.

@MorbidzBaby: My mom would do the same thing to me when ever I brought up my best friend wanting to be with anther guy. She would make this disgusted face and be like "You need to tell your friend to stop chasing after men and find a girl, its just perverted!" Gee mom, like someone could change how their brain is wired at the drop of a dime... We probably have the same mother lol jk jk

Smoking is so not a moral choice to me, it's a health choice. Big difference. Interfaith marriages, well, if you meet and fall in love with someone on the outside you shouldn't be ostrasized for it. Youy should be able to choose whoever you love from where ever, not fight over the one brother in the KH and hope he picks you (seen it done many times because of that stupid 'marry only in the lord rule' ).

the reason i asked this is because i'm going to the funeral of a man who wasn't a jw.

my mother-in-law has lived in the same neighborhood as him for years and knows his wife.

i asked her if she was going attend the funeral service.

I was never ashamed or embarrassed. I just got tired of explaining beliefs that were never mine to begin with. But think the ones who were mostly ashamed of it were born in young people. I've never really seen a JW adult not be extremist about it. Or maybe that's because that's all my mom's ever around, other extremists...

Needs help telling my mom that I dont want to be apart of her religion

i really don't know how to just tell my mom that i dont want to do be a jw, i mean i really shouldn't have to tell her if she'd actually pay attention to my attitude everytime she goes on a religious rant, but she chooses to stay blind and keeps making me go to that place and sit through meetings that i don't agree with on most occasions...i think that she thinks that if she keeps making me go then i'll miraculously have a change of heart and want to stay in (which will never happen).

i don't want to be disrepectful about it but since she obviously doesn't care about my feelings towards it, then why should i care if i hurt her feelings in the process, you know?

i just really don't know what to do, everytime i go to that place i feel fake because everthing they instruct us not to do, i've pretty much done it or will do it with no remorse, and i don't care either way.

So everyone I got caught on this site by my dad (thank god is wasn't my mother) yesterday and that enabled a converstation about how I actually felt about being a JW, and I literally poured my heart out to the point where I sounded completely angry but that was because I'd been holding in for the longest time. To my surprise everything went better than expected. He even told me that he didn't agree with everything JW's taught, which suprised me because he never said that to me or my mom ever before. I told him what my mom did when I tried to tell her first, and then he proceeded to tell me that she shouldn't have done that but since I came out with it that he would talk to my mother about it. I'm actually glad he caught me on this site, it worked out for me in the end lol

@NewChapter: Technically I should've been approved when I was about 8 years old, but I have no clue what happened to that. Now I'm glad I never was approved!

@Joey Jo-Jo: I'm thinking of showing my mom that scripture that says something about how didn't want us to be mindless drones following him and how he wanted to have independent thinking actually...That should work as well.

@Witness My Fury: I'm not baptized nor do have the intention of getting baptized. Don't really want to go through that whole shunning thing.

ok i was just blown away when i heard this today while driving, at first i thought it was the some old same old but then it went on and it seems like it is on a different level.. the subheading is "guard your heart by exercising self-control.

on page 27 par 17 it says "one way a person could wonder into the foolish course of the "young man in want of heart" is by aimlessly flipping though television channels or surfing the internet.

whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes.

I haven't truly studied for a meeting since I was 12. Then I just started underlining random junk like15 mins beforehand so my mom would think I was actually doing something when she handed me that thing. Now I don't do jack to prepare because I honestly don't care much to and I sit in that place like a bump on a log. Daydreaming is fun while staring straight lol

@frigginconfused: 18 is too young to expect anyone that age to support themselves with ease.

@Nugget: I did approach her in that way. We were talking about JW stuff and I just calmly told her that I know this is the life that you want from me and I'm thankful that you have my best interest at heart but, truly my head is just not in it (which was the nice way of me telling her I have no intention of following the JW lifestyle), in which then she told me that it was fine and that she understood where I was coming from, and she seemed like she did, and here I thought we had reached some type of understanding, that is until she completely took back everything she said to make sure I stay under her watchful eyes so things don't go like it did with my sister.

@White Dove: I know it doesn't end, my sister's living proof, but I feel like since I'm probably going to be in their house until I'm 21 (if all else fails I want to be gone by 19 or 20) then I should at least get a choice while I'm trying to still be respectful to my mom. Because if I'm still being told that I have to be a JW at 20 then all respect is lost at that point.

@wannabefree: Both of my parents are here, my dad isn't a JW, but he never really shows disdain towards them, and anytime I voice my opinion about JW's to him, he makes it seem like I'm just being the norm rebellious teenager. So he's not much help.
