hi--3 times this weekend 2 elders came to my door asking for me by name (my kids answered the door).
apparently my jw sister notified the elders about the letter she received from me several months ago and gave them my new address.
my letter was very clear about how i felt about the watchtower society and i have not stepped foot in a kingdom hall in about 15 years, and the last 8 years of that was sporadic at best.. why should i talk to people i did not invite to my home, when i know they are coming to condemn me?
Were you ever DF'd for the letter that you wrote? If not, I would guess they are coming to "keep the congregation clean." I like Lisa's expression "My house, My rules." You have already told the JW cult your views, you have nothing to feel obligated to discuss. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of acknowleging them. You need to decide what you are comfortable with, you no longer need to play by their rules.

i just saw this wonderful film, directed by m.night shyamalan, who also directed "the sixth sense", "unbreakable", "signs", and "the village".
basically, the film illustrates some philosophical points by means of a fairy tale.
i don't think the storyline is meant to be taken as literally true, only the points which the story illustrates.
I also liked it as well. In fact I liked it so much that I bought the movie.

i am sure i could apply my speculations to other countries, but i know the usa, so i am .
being specific about pioneers in the usa.. the pressure to pioneer instead of marrying or raising a family (or both) was considerable in .
armageddon was coming, afterall.
The real question is...For pioneers what the world are they going to do when they retire? Is the borg going to fund this, or the congregation? As you see the end not coming, the old file and rank pioneer is not going to have the financial mean to survive. Could be very interesting times ahead. Pioneers are used to be treating as special, when you can no longer fullfill these requirements how you are treated vastly changes.

does anyone remember the brouhaha over lecithin in candies and other food items?
i remember one sister writing to all the manufacturers of these products to inquire whether or not the lecithin was from a blood source.
there were even lists of products to avoid that were circulated in the congregation.
Boy I sure do!!!!!! My grandmother refused to by imitation crab meat due to it having Lecithin which she was convinced was a blood product. I think during the 70's it was the paronoid period between Lecithin and Smurf's.

I love how they have a hotline to heaven. "Jehovah will not be pleased." Hmmmm so can you imagine a conversation with God and those old boys in Bethel. Of all the things you would like to speak to and ask God, but all you can come up with is...."Jehovah is it proper for your people to wear jeans, T-shirts, and forget their badges when they go to eat?" In the big picture it is sooooooooooooo petty it is just laughable.

First Bianca welcome to the board. We are all glad that you are here with us. I left the JW religion because I did not want my three daughters raised as second class citizens. I wanted them to have an educations and experience life. There JW elder father wanted them to only pioneer, find a good JW young man and get married.
So all my daughers were raised as an elder's daughters. My oldest had it the most difficult. You are expected to be an unbaptized publisher, become a baptised publisher, pioneer etc. Remember to your dad what you do reflects on him. It is all about what others think of you when you are an elder. Because of this feeling that kids have to live up to the whole congregations expectations is really burdensome to young people. Whatever you do DO NOT GET BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once that happens you are really held to very high expectations with dire consequences.

well folks, i started writing a big post and then the keyboard acted up on me, so i lost everything i was saying.
first of all amanda was right, this isnt anything i can just walk away from, it is'nt something that i can just put behind me and move on.
this involves my sexuality and my childhood experience growing up in the jw cult.

jesus had only 12 members attend and partake the last meal and memorial.there were no observers in the room.each disciple was given bread to eat and wine to drink.there is no mention of other people in the room who couldn't eat or drink the last meal.this was only for those who would partake of this meal.. why does the wts feel that observers need to be at this yearly event?
why can't the elders who(supposedly) have any 144,000 in their congregations,have a memorial with only these members?
if jesus wanted observers he would of had some at his last meal and requested that they be present from then on..
looks like it is all about the numbers.
