$6,600 Expenses For a One-Day Assembly At a Fully-Paid-Up Hall? WTF!
by Room 215 inthe wife just got back from a one-day special circuit meeting (or whatever they call it) at the regional assembly hall.
it's got a capacity of about 1,200, fully paid for, staffed by volunteers and in use for less than eight hours.
then the guy making the announcement tells the crowd that the one-day expenses for the gig was about $6,600 (?!!!)...

Why do you think Jesus never wrote anything down?
by journey-on inif his message was to be followed like a rule book, wouldn't he have written down some things with his own hand?.

Only God knows the day and hour. No one else knows, not even the Son.
Those who consider themselves "wise" are supposed to be confused. Good for filtering out 'false prophets'.
Plus it apparently wasn't in the plan for him to be a novelist. Teachers speak and students take notes.

The Jewish tradition was to teach orally and pass down teachings orally.
They had written scrolls. Jesus opened the scroll and read a verse from it. If he could read, he could write.

From 'Everlasting Life' to just a few more years. How did you handle the realisation that you WOULD die?
by nicolaou inthe thing is, a lot of us thought we'd never die.
do you comprehend what a truly massive mind-fuck that is?
when i was embroiled in doubts and knew i was heading 'out of the truth' i remember waves of nausea hitting me.

Fine with me.
I figured it would have been easier to gain 'the prize' had I been chased by crazy mobs, sawed in half, or eaten by lions ... for JWs, the words "undeserved kindness" are completely lost and who ever is made to feel good enough?
In my dreams (even when young) I was always looking down at the earth, not on it playing with critters and such. Strange.
I realized what is most important is what is in my heart, how I treat others, and how I live my life.

The Horsemen of the Apocalypse
by snowbird inthe official wt stance is that these horsemen began their ride in 1914.. at the time i began my "bible study" with the jw's, i bought into that with all the zeal of an old testament prophet.. however, i submit if those horsemen set out in 1914, they either lost their way and vanished, or the horses ditched their riders and returned to their stables.. what say you?.

I'm not sure if it will start all at once. I DO know, however, (from actual pictures in The Orange Book) that all children who fidgeted at the Kingdom Hall and pinched their little brother making him cry out disturbing the entire congregation will be swallowed up by a humongous crack that will open up in the ground. This will be just the start of Armageddon.
Haaaa! OMG! You remember that 50's type propoganda spread too! To think, its takes a sick mind to draw such.
"As a thief in the night".
NT - Rev has "fire" as the source of destruction but the WTS has always shown pictures of people being sucked up by earthquakes. Kinda like a Sodom and Gomorrah type deal but world-wide.

What does Romans 10:9,10 mean to a JW?
by Colton inromans 10:9,10.
"...if you confess with your mouth jesus as lord, and believe in your heart that god raised jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.".
in my ten years as a jw, there was absolutely no emphases to the importance of this scripture.

In my ten years as a JW, there was absolutely no emphases to the importance of this scripture. What did this scripture mean to the average JW?
Um, nothing.
You could even loudly exclaim that "Jesus is Lord to the Glory of Jehovah" and they'd freak the hell out. Oh no !, you mentioned Jesus!
Notice how they can't even mention Jesus? He's always "the Lamb","the Word", "the Greatest Man", etc ... like he doesn't have a name except at the end of a prayer.
I want to see a WT or a Book that simply says Jesus on the front.
