I see the obvious Mommie, but knowing you, there might be an underlying undertone there somewhere.
Lindy, wondering beyond Octopus, Sourpuss, and Glamour puss...But then again, maybe I don't want to know.

hi everybody.. sometime i had read(many years ago) in kingdom ministry an article that said thatas much as two third of the auditorium didn't uses to studie the watchtower when gone to the watchtower study meeting.. do anyone remember this mention?
perhaps someone realizing something is wrong in the spiritual paradise?.
if not, what reveals this?i believed some guys were very angry in.
If I remember right, there was a problem with people even bringing the WT to the Convention for the WT part, let alone having studied it that week. I think that they were just trying to keep the control up. I don't remember it being brought up after that though.

today, i did a couple of things that i never would've or could've done had i remained a jw.
first of all, i spent the first half of my day being a promotional model for snapple.
my job: smiling, looking cute, and handing out free snapple drinks.
Congrats Sunchild,
All of that stuff is great! Hope you make it on the show. Then I can say that I know you. Hope the rest of your life is going great too. Freedom to be who you are in this life is wonderful. Glad you are happy.
I hate most of those new shows, but I have to say I don't mind the "Weakest Link", I will take it over "Millionaire" anytime.
<<<<<hugs>>>>>
As Always,

if we take a critical view on the last weeks events on this board, there is maybe a thing or two to consider.
the board has seen a kind of war, and sarcasms and caustic remarks have been more the rule than the exception in some threads.
usually these ends up adding something positive to the community or the forum where the war raged, and its much like a thunderstorm.
Mommie,
What can I say but "Amen!" to ALL that your said!
Lindy
hey all!!
i got to see prince, last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he was totally and .
Sue,
You said:
"They are all individuals.
Their religion is not as strict as you imagine."
Are you even a JW? Reason I asked was becaue you used the word they and their when most JWs use we and us. "We aer individuals," "Our religion." Seemed a bit wierd to me. Even I, being away for awhile still have the tendency to us the "we, "us" terminology time and again.
As far as how else would Prince do his ministry? Just like all JWs, why not, is he special and so above the rest of them? Not according to the Bible. If he calls on doors, he might be more effective than most at the door, don't ya think? I was told that at least half your ministry should be worked at the door. The rules are different for one who come in with "worldy fame"?
And if his fame is a problem in accomplishing Jesus'command, then he should give it up and do something else to make his money. Many have given up worldly careers and have given up college that was paid for to go into the full-time work. Prince to good for this to apply to him? He could live modestly, as the Society says you should, on his investments alone! The Society discourages it's own that have never been famous, not to draw attention to their selves, and they also discourage ones from even getting a further education that might lead them into rich heights and possible fame, even on a local level. So what makes Prince so special?
He is part of the whole now and he should start blending in. No one else gets special treatments of compensations, I don't know why he should.
But let me guess, Prince is still doing it because he is famous and the JW uppers don't want to make public waves. It would become negative publicity and I don't think the Society wants that. I think he probably gives quite a bit too, and I don't mean blood.
He also might think twice about being a JW if they got on him like they would on a young JW trying to form a band. Prince and his family are used to a high life style, and giving that up to preach door to door would be to much for him, right? Not everyone can follow Christ's and the disciples example, huh?. Isn't there an example about a rich man being asked to give up his life style and follow Jesus. Oh, I see, today is different, right? Hmmmmm
I ponder over the fact that you might be a troll, might not even be a JW and if you are, you are extremely naive, and immature and do not think critically.(Of course JW's are discouraged for critical and independent thinking so it wouldn't be all your fault if it was true.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you put ALL JW's into one box?
They are all individuals.
Their religion is not as strict as you imagine.
How else can he do his ministry?
Can't very well call on doors, can he?
Many singers preach their way of life at concerts.
Why not Prince?
If he really believes, then he should do so.
That's my mind anyway.
back in the 60's a childless couple could be df'd if they decided to go for a child via artificial insemnation.
the reason given was that the wife would be committing adultery by taking another mans sperm into her body, the husband would be just as guilty because he consented to this.. can anyone tell me what the position is now, especially with regard to the newer sorts of infertility treatments?
it strikes me that it would take a very special type of relationship for a couple to put themselves through something like this, should a religious organisation have any input whatsoever in such a personal issue, is this not something that should only be decided by just the 2 people involved?.
What is the situation of a woman implanted with another woman's egg fertilized by her own brother's sperm...as reported yesterday.
Thirdson,
Hadn't heard of that one yet. But haven't watched much news lately.
We as a human society have set the rules for what we think is right and wrong. These rules basically come from religions influence, either christian or pagan.
My first reaction to this was "ewh" and I though about it for a second and then wondered why I still have that old way of thinking. My mind went to incest. But there is no incest involvment. But, I thought, she is carrying her brothers baby as her own. But I thought again, and realized that she is carrying the life, not creating it.
We, in this new age of technology, need to readjust our thinking on matters. This woman obviously can't have her own children the "natural" way. So, with the use of technology she is able to have a child and have it grown in her and deliver it.
I never had a problem in my mind with a sister donating her egg, or a mother carrying her daughters baby for her, both of these things have been done time and again. So why do I have a problem with this woman's brother donating his sperm with another womens egg, so that his sister can become a mother? Genetically, the argument of incest and defects in an incestuously concieved shild aren't there.(The only reason you can't marry your siblings or first cousins, like Adam and Eve's children did, and the only reason that it is religously wrong.) So now that I gave myself a good talking to, on being automatically prejudice to a new idea before I considered the facts, I say there is nothing wrong with this, and I wish the mother-to-be happiness!

Comf,
Good one!! Never, ever thought of that one. That is great!
Lindy
hi everyone, i have been "lurking" for a week or so and thought i'd join the fun.
i am a third generation jw who was determined not to make my kids the fourth!
my husband and i left almost five years ago and have never looked back and as a result have never been happier.. just a quick summary of the past thirteen years.... i never went to college (never even considered it) and was married two weeks after graduating from high school.
The only ones messed up after they leave are the ones who tried to leave without a mess and the congregation gave them one anyway. Plus the getting through the indoctrination the Jws caused.
Lindy, who after 40 years in, now quietly out, along with my girls, and couldn't be happier.
feeling trapped?
forced to go to boring meetings?
your evenings free to pursue hobbies or education?
I used the depressed thing, my Mom dying and moving into the neighboring territory. Worked like a charm. I even have one of my long time "best friends" move in from the same congregation I left after being a part of it for 40 plus years. She is very active and she hasn't even called on me in the 4 years she has been living less than a mile from me. So much for the love for the lost sheep. No "apostate talk" involved either. I have fibromyalgia too and it is disabling to some extent. So the use of any long-term illness works too. One young sister calls on me once in a great while and her mom has it. So she "understands" how I feel.
Lindy, who probably would have "fallen through the cracks" in the congregation she grew up and old in. Moving made it way to easy.
you know you're a jw when... .
you know when nisan 14 is on the jewish gregorian calendar.
each year, but you forget your own birthday.. you wash windows for a living and still own 4 suits.. .
About the turkey. All my life, in the number of congregations I have been a member of, the turkey was served on Thanksgiving with a bunch of guests who were all JWs. AND always at some Elder's home. The excuse was that the turkey was cheap and everyone had the day off! Same on Christmas. My question, which soon left me out of being invited to these "love feasts" was: "If the big A came that day and the angels started killing the unbeleivers, how would they know that the household serving the JW turkey was any different than the other "worldly" Thanksgiving feasts?" NOOO answer.
Notice that the turkey dinners continued, but I was not invited any more. Hmmmm. I guess the turkey blood on the door posts was the sign for the angels, and I was just blasphemous huh? I imagine they thought I had no appreciation for the "finer spiritual things" like a turkey dinner in association with a bunch of JW hypocrites!
