This is so true. You should see the flags in our little town. In about a 25-minute drive down the interstate my daughter saw 36 flags on car antennas. Our short road of about 20 some houses has at least 3/4th of them flying flags. They are handing out braclets with flags on them at the stores and the Sunday newspaper had a flag in it that you could unfold and place in your window. In all my days I have not seen anything like this, even on the 4th of July!! There are flags all over the place. You can't go 1/4 of a mile down the freeway or one city block in town without seeing one. It is something else. I wonder if that what it was like for my parents during WWII?
We did have the JWs out in force on Sunday afternoon here just like all were saying would happen. With their words of "comfort" they made it clear that they were only here for that and were not to argue about patiotism and the blood issues according to the JW that was here. She was of course hoping that I would have some fear in me and that I would want to get my butt back to the KH, but I only thanked her for her concern and gave her no indication that I was steeping back into it. Her mom was with her and asked me if I knew where the new (2 years old) KH was. I said "Oh yes, I drive by it all the time. They did a nice job on it." What could she say. Nothing. We three chatted a while and then they left. I think they just come here for an easy call which I don't mind. I get the subscription renewed to keep up on what they are doing, so I know and she gives me the latest stuff. I am an easy call. I know that the younger JW, who is the one who regularlly calls, really hopes that she will help me back in and that this disaster might just do it. They had a record breaking number at the Hall that morning, some 174 people, she told me.
People are scared is what I told her. I told her that I was sure that the churches were filled that morning too! Hmmm...do you think she will ever get it? .....nah...

I can't say that I disagree with a lot of what you say. We just don't know,and I wonder about that sort of stuff too. But when you become fanatic and blame the "demons" for normal life problems, rather than work them out, by throwing material things into fires and the like, you escape reason and responsibility for your own actions, thus giving your control over to an organization that promotes this type of behavior.
BTW, nothing you present as your opinion with and an open-mind is "stupid". Exchanging thoughts and ideas is how we become informed and how we learn to adjust our own ideas and thoughts. We do not live in a vacuum and we all are a bit, to say the least in some cases, different than everyone else.Lindy

There is a lot of talk on this. When in college today we discussed this in a couple classes. I spoke with a couple other people on this and this is the gist of what I am hearing.
The date was 9/11. Mass emergency number, 911. The day is supposedly almost to the minute from the 3 months since McViegh's execution. The A.T. F. that nailed Mcviegh were based in the towers. There is talk that the address of the building was somehow significant. The airplanes were filled with fuel, the same as what destroyed the OK building, as a bomb. "They" say that in the OK disaster it involved a "third man", one that got away. He was supposedly a highly trained military figure (and still in the military) with the knowledge to pull of the OK bombing, olive skinned with dark hair.. It is said that Mcviegh and his accomplise were not smart enough to pull this off by themselves. It is also said that this OK bombing was done in the speculation that the Arabs would be targeted for the blame and that the US would end up destroying them for the crime. They, the group affiliated with these three, wanted the Arabs destroyed. But the plan backfired and it was taken as internal terrorism instead. Due to his postion and olive skin and dark hair, it is said that the "third man" infiltrated the Arab countries and saying he hated Americans and wanted to use his skills to help the Arabs. His true motive though was to use his skills to train these people, including how to fly the planes, and help them carry out a terrorist act on the US so that the US would relatiate and destroy the Arabs, carrying forth the original plan.
Part of the problem is that people feel that the US agents knew this. There are many social control agents through out this country and in this world keeping an eye on things such as the many counter culture groups, which are groups that are a threat to the US. Sooo where we these agents all this time this stuff was taking form and how did this man and his counter group slip through their fingers? They didn't! These agents allowed this to happen it is said, because the US is on the verge of a recesion/depression. How do you get out of this? A war! A war rebuilds the economy.
Did Bush know? Not necessarily. He may have known that something was afoot but not what, or where. There was a lot of military movement the last few days before the disaster.Lots of people saw military moving on the interstates all over. A lot of people placed into position for some reason. Moved aroung and told they were on "maneuvers", nothing unusal. The talk is that the government, internally, knew something was going to happen within a certain time frame and they were preparing just in case. But only a select few knew more than that.
Notice Bush, the V. President, Collin Powell and other significant people were far form the sites that were hit. Coincidence? Who knows. There is more but I smply can't remember it all.I know it is speculation/theory right now, but that is all there is at this time. It may be hard to believe that our country would participate in this but given past history it is not difficult to grasp. The American people have been deliberatley kept in the dark for many, many things, so these things unfortunatley aren't a wild as some might think. History proves it can be.
I want to know how that plane in PA was so destroyed that it was almost dust on the ground and how it created such a huge crater, not typical of a "crash landing". Were they shot down like so many said? Where are the other "confirmed" hijacked planes that were in the air. NOTHING is being said of that. But the news said that the government confirmed eight highjacked planes, yet only have accounted for 4 officially.
We may never know it all and may have to accept that. Time will tell. I just hope it doesn't get any worse, but I fear it will, I don't see an end in sight yet.Lindy

JW relatives laying it on heavy...

i was glad to hear from him, but of course i got a good dose of jw reasoning along with the concern.. he mentioned he was on his way to a dentists appointment this morning and was listening to the awake!

This is big time news going on now. So the JWs are using it to the hilt. They are scared and they think the answer is the Big A. They are conditioned to believe it is coming at any moment and this is a big momment so this MUST be the one. Over the last 40 years of my life as a JW there have been so MANY "this is its" that I can't count them all. Wars, natural disasters, world event after world event, Aids, other diseases, and the list goes on and on. Right now this disaster is one of the hugest ones since the middle east wars so they are contered on it. The Big A offers an explaination for this and everyone, JW or not, are looking for an answer. It simplifies it. But when the Big A doesn't come they will forget they said it and move on. JWs have a limited memory. Sad...but sad for us all.
Preaching to you is part of the game plan. You are to see this disaster as so big it will "bring you back to Jehovah". If brings them personal hope that you will be "forgiven" and saved. A wierd way to show their love for you but love just the same.Lindy

Gas Prices
by larc inwe have been informed in dayton that gas prices will go up by midnight by 4 dollars a gallon.
i hope this is another false alarm, but i am filling up in either case.

We went into town to eat tonight. Really wierd. The lines were backed up at the gas stations. Up 20 to 30 cents since late this afternoon. We all here at our house, filled up about 2pm so we got by cheaper. They only have high test left here in our little town and people are lined up getting that. Crazy!! Hardly no one was on the roads and we noticed that all the lights were on in houses and we could see the TV sets on. People are really scared. We also noticed that everyone was talking at the gas stations that we passed. That is something you don't normally see. Everyone seems to be drawn together with this going on. We were talking about the draft possibly being reinstated if we go to war, and then what are all these young families and young people going to do? Major life disruptions! I hope this ends quickly, but I fear it won't.

), but i can tell you all that today has been (and will continue to be for a loooong time) the single most bizarre, surreal event i have witnessed.. i work in an office building at 26 broadway in manhattan, about 10 blocks from the world trade towers.

I am so sorry that you had to be there among the terror. I can only imagine what you and all the others involved directly with this, are going through.
My oldest daughter has a boyfriend in NY and he lives on Long Island and was supposed to be by the World Trade Center this morning. She was frantic and finally got a hold of him. He didn't go into town this morning for some freaky reason.
My youngest daughter knows one of the navy pentagon guards. She contacted his mother and she said he is okay but was in the lower building of one of the towers and saw everyone running out. Someone told him to run, so he started running. Part of the blast shoved him into a cement wall and broke his arm. But other than that, he is okay. The same daughter has a boyfriend who's father and grandfather's farm was a field over from where the PA plane crashed and he was really worried because he couldn't get a hold of his people. He finally did and they are okay. You just don't know how many people world wide are affected by this. It is awful.
The same youngest daughter's friend has a brother and a father in the building. The son got out because he was called out to sign for an UPS package and the plane hit as he was signing. Needless to say he didn't go back in. He did go and volunteer at the hospital to help. The father is still missing.
I am in awe of this and how it affects us all. You just can't put it into words how much it hurts your heart.Lindy

It will rise slightly and as soon as things seem okay again it will back off. This happens everywhere when there is a tragedy. People who never pray or haven't prayed in ages are now praying today. God becomes much more of a figure in person's minds in these kind of situations. "They" say that no one dies an atheist. Same type of thing. But the JW's think of saving their butts in the big A so this shakes them up, but only temperarily.
It will even make some of us "apostates" kick in our old mind conditioning, I expect, and think for a moment in time, that the Society might be right. Common sense, hopefully, will kick in and they will be okay.

Dear Peacepipe,
My one daughter's boyfriend was in a state of panic when he heard this about the plane in PA. His family lives there. He called and found out that the plane came down in the field next to his father's and grandfather's house. Just one field over!! Can you imagine that?
As far as the plane being shot down I can tell you that someone that I know knows a military person "in the know" and he said that it was indeed shot down, but that you more than likely won't be told this on the news because of the implications.

Planes just a diversion... Ambulances had bombs.
by biblexaminer ini feel pretty sure about this, that the planes were just a diversion set to allow emergency vehicles easy access to the basement parking lot.
eye witnesses placed a large explosion just before the south building came down.
one thing is sure, the buildings did not come down as a result of the planes hitting them or any explosions due to that.

My daughter made a good point. The contruction of these tall buildings are made to implode when something like this happens so that they don't tip over. They both came straight down so this might be the reason why. The neigboring trade tower number seven is in risk of tippin over. The force of the trade tower falling and the debris crashing into it at its base weakened its foundation, thus causing the risk of it coming down too.
