  Hi POY, you are very brave to come here while still in the religion. If your parents find out (I'm assuming they are in the faith) they will report you to the elders and it will be another back room talk, but that's not much really.

  Dating advise- you can disagree with me if you like it's only a suggestion, but don't bother with girls in the religion! You will get tied down and have more complications when you leave, which I'm assuming will only be a matter of time from what you've said. I get the impression you really like this girl you rarely speak to. That's sweet, but does she feel the same way about the religion?

  Sorry to read about your cousin. Terrible experience, and just the kind that fits the JW prejudice about leaving them. As you'll see from this forum and other resources, most people find a happy and fulfilling life without the religion.

  What do you mean when you say:' I can't promise that I won't "wreck a few homes,"' are you planning on eloping with this girl?

  At 17 you must be at College or University? Is there a student Counciler you could talk to about leaving the religion of your upbringing?

  according to jw bible chronology , adam was created some 6000 years before 1975 & as armageddon hasn't arrived yet , he has been alone for all the equivalent years since then (despite the wtbts claiming that adam was only on his own for just a few weeks or months.).

  luckily as a perfect man , he had no sexual desires.... .

  adam felt no desires of sex.

  Welcome JLP, glad to meet you! Wow, all this time I saw your adventures I didn't know all this was going on in your life!

  Seriously though, you might want to take your wife's advise. She might be right about talking to someone (professional counciling). If you are getting angry every once in a while, she's the one who has to put up with you. Sometimes we can undervalue the seriousness of the trauma we have to go through when we leave the JWs.

  why are so very few of jesus actual words recorded exactly?.

  the new testament is almost entirely written in greek.. jesus spoke aramaic.

  maybe a bit of what was called "market greek".

  Other books like Friedman's "Who wrote the bible"?

  i really enjoyed friedmans book, and i feel it gave me a lot more knowledge about the world that produced the bible and a greater appreciation for the bible itself.

  i would like to ask for your recommodations on what the "next" book about the bible i should read?.

  i've been loggin in to this site for about 3 or 4 months on an almost daily basis.

  i decided to finally make an account cause i just have to vent and connect with those who have been in my shoes.

  "worldly" people don't understand completely when i talk to them about the hardship of being born into a religion/cult, growing up with people making decisions for me, and having them choose my future, goals, and dreams; all the while sacrificing normal childhood joys and replacing them with study, service hours, and 5 minute talks.
