Why do so many people believe that jesus is god?

i still say that, christiaity is f--- up in these last days.. christianity teaches that the messiah is god, when the bible clearly points out that jesus is a prophet sent by god... jesus prayed to god<----that's the biggest proof... so i think if anybody believe that jesus is god, is not only an'-ti-christ(not accepting) but also a liar, foolish, and you knoweth nothing, and you are not close to god or christ, you are closer to that devil which we call satan....

This whole thread has deteriorated into a Trinity debate, and I find that sad.

We've come to the usual point in the proceedings where we all shake hands (if we haven't run off in temper), and go back to our corners. Stalemate.

Personally I have enjoyed this thread, if for nothing else than to have seen what others believe and how they support that belief. As I commented to Plmkrzy, earlier, I would fight for the right for people to express that.

I've started a new thread in "Beliefs" asking a grassroots question on worship of Christ. I hope that a few might add their worthy opinions to that consideration.

Should JESUS be worshipped or prayed to?

i want to consider this point, free from the trinity / arian debate.

there have been an abundance of threads that have deteriorated into these doctrine, and it clouds this issue because tempers get raised.. so, please, can we keep it simple.

should jesus receive our worship, right here, right now?.

i was having a chat with my apostate kid brother yesterday about witness beliefs.

he finds that talking about jw's stimulates his mind almost as much as watching paint drying.

i told him that our mother was about to be imprinted yet again by the territorial wt savages, this time in the re-iteration of that loving practice known as disfellowshipping.

Last December we were bored to tears in the elders school, as the article on what was acceptable was read out and "emphasised". We were encouraged to mark up the article along with the bruvver. It genuinely was all I could do to stay away, as I had pre-read it, as per instructions.

You get DA'ed for transfusion, just the same as going to church or joining the armed forces.

Different term, same result.

Cutting to the chase, without flinging texts around (which we all do so well ), what are you stating, Plum?

That Jesus has been given jurisdiction over the physical creation, and as such is worthy of worship from us in equal measure to the Father?

I've just got to ask how Paul's comments about judging angels falls into that one.

Other than that, I think I can see where you are coming from, and will fight for your right to express it

I MAY HAVE HIT BOTTOM

i thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

she told me today at lunch.

i almost threw up.

I have to agree with Lisa's idea of writing a letter, espressing your feelings about your daughter. That's gotta melt her heart, surely!!?!

At the end of the day, it's HER day. Maybe she can get that across to whoever is interfering.

I don't know how things are done outside of Britain, but here the father-of-the-bride walks her down the aisle, there's a question asked as to who gives her away, which he reponds to, there's a speech at the reception, and perhaps even a dance. There are so many issues to do with the progenitor of this little girl. If your to-be son-in-law has any respect for you, he should support her in the right choice, too.

My heart goes out to you - I can barely imagine what you must be going through. I only hope she will change her mind.

sorry for moaning, but i thought i'd update you all too.... firstly i saw the dental specialist today (remember, infected wisdom tooth?).

he said (after thorough examination, xray etc).

Ah, I'm returning home before then, but I'm supposed to be speaking at a Christian Ex-JW conference in Wales, that weekend. I'm trying to squeeze in a ten day break, between two events.
(Just to prove that there are ex-JW's beyond this board )

If you're in hospital and up to it (on the 1st) I'll come visit, if you like. Otherwise, we have GOT to arrange something!

.......certainly never got me anywhere, did not even help my wife to survive cancer, in spite of jesus' admonition to "ask anything in my name.

" there are opinions among some students and researchers of the bible to the effect that the god and father jesus prayed to was not jehovah.

just try to find "jehovah" in the sermon on the mount, even in the nwt.

I don't think I can disagree with any of your comments, Sirona. How we "visualise" God will vary, but essentially prayer can be exactly how you describe it.

I'm at a wedding in the Midlands on the 31st August, so on the 1st of September I'm going to be hanging around like a spare part, before I meet up with my wife to go on holiday. (The wedding is for my best man, who was DF'ed years ago, so she isn't coming). Are you around that weekend?

It's possibly quite short notice, for a big bash, but I bet we can get some of the gang together.
