i hear stories that jw's really hate it when someone suddenly claims to be of the "anointed" class.

apparently, such new claims are strongly discouraged.. my jw mum says that the reason for this is that when someone claims to be anointed, it can only mean that they are replacing someone else.

in other words, an anointed person has "fallen away from the truth".

As well as certain "understandings", visions are something that I get from time to time, too (there we go, now I'm gonna be marked as a freak on this board, too). I speak of them only to the right audience.
I'm going to have to go through your mail a couple of times, and check the scriptures - but I have to add that the length of it is a real turn off.

You are quite right that we should expect trouble, but in all honesty, if you act like an oddball, you'll be treated like an oddball - a self-fulfilling prophecy.

As for the memorial - one of my concerns would be as to which body I am adjoining myself to and setting my stall out with.
My anointing was fairly recent, and things get clearer every day.
I first wondered that I would have to partake, as I couldn't conscienciously let the emblems pass me without demonstrating my convictions.
As time progresses I wonder if I will still be in the hall, come memorial time.
I'm not confused, just learning, and the Holy Spirit is helping.

If you want to do your bit, then don't counsel me with what I already know and understand, just pray for me.

Anyone up on witness dogma?

anyone here know if witnesses are allowed to serve in the military?

i know they're not allowed to fight in war, but are they allowed to be chefs for soldiers, for example.. when cornelius became christian, the bible doesn't say that he left his military career.. furthermore, matthew 5:41: "if someone in authority impresses you for a mile, go with him two miles.".

any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you join the "Anointed of Jehovah's Witnesses" MSN Community?
Your choice of words and titles seem familiar to some postings that I saw there a few weeks ago.
That board has gone deathly quiet.

As a quick answer - I want to be anywhere my Lord is found, act as he wants me to act.
I live by means of him, and he sustains me (daily, even hourly, moment by moment).
My quandry is over exposing myself in this way.
When I compare what I am now reading in God's word, with what I had been taught, I see certain disharmonies. No man has done this to me, as I was reasonably content before the Spirit started it's working in me.

On a personal note to you. I wouldn't dare to challenge your calling (I have no right to do so), but may I suggest that you show a little prudence when you write. Bear in mind the words of the Apostle when he talked of the disharmony of many speaking in tongues. Your verbose nature, and talking of visions have unsettled a few here and ruined your credibility in their eyes.
There is a time and a PLACE for everything.
Just an observation.

a little about me: i'm a 17 yr old femme-i'll be 18 the 30th of this month.

and yes, i'm going to celebrate it.

i haven't celebrated it since i was 6. i have 2 older sisters, an older brother, and a younger brother.

I'm a JW elder, but to be honest have no experience with what it appears that you have had to go through.
You'll get little encouragement to keep going to the KH here, but you will get a lot of support and affection.
If you've got questions, ask away, as there is a wealth of experience here.
I'd like to add my sympathy to that of the others, for your predicament. You're going through it, lassy, and need as much support as you can get. (I really hope that doesn't come over as condescending, because I really am gutted for you - no-one should have to face any of that).

You're probably right about the DA bit, since that is also the new stance on blood, as well (I'll need to consult the "book of the law" <g>).

I'm missed the point on Alternative service, though. When did that get re-allowed? I must have blinked at the time.

today's watchtower lesson instructs witnesses not to think for themselves when it comes to bible understanding:.

augest 1, 2001, p. 14, par.

first, since "oneness" is to be observed, a mature christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned.

I was gonna post that too, but was out for the day.
At the meeting I was going to try and tone it down and try and make folks think (if possible) by making a joke of the fact that I believed we would have cars and planes in the new order - but the Wt.conductor must have seen the gleam in my eye, because he wouldn't take my hand <g>.

I wonder if there will be a flood of questions from readers asked for advise on what to think about the king of the North debate, since we're now officially not allowed to do that for ourselves.
(At least I cant remember it being put quite so specifically before - tell me if I'm wrong).

Always seemed funny to me that they didn't just use some of the remailing 8k. It seems quite telling, in retrospect.

Truth is that there's no need to back down as most congregations do that dirty work anyway.
Having mailed a few, it seems that quite a number have left. Some due to dissatisfaction, other due to a "changed view" of scripture.
Those that remain are looked down upon and talked about.
Put's me in a bit of a quandry for this coming memorial, if not before.

There seems to be plenty of experience here of those who have jumped and those who are pushed. Which is best?
Seems to me that landing after the fall is going to hurt anyhow.

i think i've seen a few floating around.

(i'm not talking about obvious lunatics like you know but an average jw) here's my question.. were all the bible writers prophets?

To the best of my memory (dubious) and off the top of my head (I don't have a "Scripure Inspired" book handy):

Ezra was a scribe
Nehemiah was a cup-bearer
Matthew was a tax-collector
Paul used secretaries
I don't recall any of the above prophecying, but could be wrong.

But most writers were prophets, especially in the OT.
