WANTING to Believe in God
by dobby inhas anyone had this experience?.
after letting go of my beliefs as a jw, i felt the only alternative was to be atheist.
or maybe it is just logical to there is no god when i am only listening to my mind and not my heart.

Even if you struggle with the idea that Jesus is God, the scriptures state that he is the exact representation of Him, and he explains Him.
One of the greatest sins of the WTB&TS is that it has so divorced Christ from God that no-one really looks at Jesus to see what God is like. They think "Yeah, he'll be a great King, when he finally get's around to his third coming" (or something like that ).
If you want to see the nice side of God, look at Jesus.
Even the God of the OT didn't kill Saul's men for eating blood, nor David's for eating the shewbread. Many loving husbands have been to war.
Does the fact, that a man has taken a life, stop the wife from loving and having a personal relationship with her husband?
Hence, why do you think so many Christians go on about having a personal relationship with Jesus?Just a few random musings to add to the picture...

There ya go prophesying again.
"In this century"Ever considered what was meant by the following passages:
Ex.20:6
Deut.5:10Even if you take a generation as 20 years (which it isn't), and backdate it to Seth, you may still have 14,103 years to wait.
Just an alternate chronological view to consider...
Also, you highlight Rev.21. What do you think verse 2 means when it says that "New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."?
Saint:
"If there is 'god', it may not fit the definition that is popularly pinned on it."
Drop the preceding "If" and you've got agreement from this quarter. -

God is Jesus
by evangelist ini am looking for more scriptures that can prove to a jehovah witness that god is jesus, and jesus is god.i found only one verse so far in 1jo:5:20: and we know that the son of god is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his son jesus christ.
this is the true god, and eternal life.. if you know more scriptures that say directly that god is jesus please tell me the verses the jhw will see plainly that jesus is no way an angel, and he is jehovah god almighty.. my friend said if i can prove by the bible only that jesus is god he will leave the jhw society, and he will know that they are teaching lies and they would be to him a dogma religious sect.
my friend gave me a booklet called should you believe in the trinity?, and is jesus christ the almighty god.

Also got to agree with Alan and Ozzie, here.
It would be incorrect to say "God is Jesus".
(The only way you'll get away with that is in the Greek, but definitely not in the English).Jesus is God, I can follow.

What Am I thinking?????
by butalbee inwith all the recent hog wash going on in my life, i can't believe i am even entertaining this notion.
everybody on this board knows how i feel about this path, these beliefs, and here i am thinking, pondering wondering, maybe jehovahs witnesses do have something to offer me, maybe i need their 'close nit' love inside their congregations?
maybe i could see the truth, if i only opened my eyes to it and tried to accept it???

The interesting thing about this is that Job wasn't (to my knowledge) a member of the Israelite congregation.
Hence, how could he be talking about apostates, unless declaring it to be a turning away from God Himself, rather than an organization? -

tartarus
by petespal2002 incould someone give me a workable explanation of tartarus and how and what jesus preached to the imprisoned spirits there?
and while i'm in 1st peter, what is the meaning of 1 peter 4:6 where the message is to be declared to the dead?
i know what i think, but i'd love your opinions.

Yeru:
I can't see that explanation being complete, as it doesn't concur with the explanation of what happened to those spirits in Genesis.Further, are you presenting an argument for Limbo / purgatory?

The word "hypocrite" (Strong's # 2611) is mainly found in Job.
It appears that the NWT translates it consistantly as "apostate" or "apostates", though where they find a basis for using that word is anyone's guess.(Job 8:13) So are the paths734 of all that forget7911 God410; and the hypocrite's2611 hope8615 shall perish6:
