Well...i personally think that if Adam hadnt sinned...God would have had to remove another rib...
I have to also agree with Naeb...none of us would be here if Adam hadnt sinned. So I guess I should be glad?

just supposing that adam in the garden of eden hadn't shared and participated in the eating of the forbidden fruit, what would have happened?
would adam be without a partner to this day?
and if god knows the end from the beginning, being the alpha and the omega an all that, did he know that 'sin' was going to take place?

well, i did it.. it's official and i'm relieved.. the elders wanted to try talking to me once again, but after awhile it was obvious that they were only interested in changing my thoughts not answering any questions.
so, i just calmly asked if i could disassociate myself.
they acted stunned and they got tears in their eyes, but i told them that i had already grieved and was ready to move on with life.
Way to go Pierced :)
well, i'm finally reading coc, and i must tell you that despite already being an ex-dub i was *shocked*.
the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.
maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?
I was a JW from 1974 to 1986. I remember all the emotional sermons about our faithful brothers in Malawi and how they were being beaten, tortured, raped and even killed; and how one day we might have to go through the same thing.
After reading COC, I realized that those poor people in Malawi suffered and died for nothing!
The WBTS can't even be consistant within the guidelines that they have set up for themselves!
They have covered their tracks so well, haven't they?
I wonder if they feel that they have tricked God?

i have been drifting for about 1 1/2 years now and was hoping that in a year or two i would have distanced myself enough from the org.
that i can actually start living my life exactly the way i want to...aka celebrating the holidays by putting lights on the house, not having to tell my daughter not to say anything about going trick or treating, getting birthday presents or going to cheerleader camp.
but i read some posts in the disfellowhiping thread started by somebody where people have been inactive for 3 years and are still disfellowhiped!
Xena,
I like to say things simply. So, here goes.
When I left the JW's, I didn't worry about whether or not I needed to disassociate myself or let them do it for me.
I simply chose not to recognize their authority over me anymore. Xena, they have no spiritual, legal or monitary hold on you.
You are free to live your life as you choose.
I could go on an on about my personal beliefs in Christ, but the fact remains, the only "people" we are REALLY accountable to are our families, the government and our debtors. No one else can legally control us.
I hope you can take a little comfort in that.

first, some background info:.
my mother is a 4 meeting a week, no field service, 26 year veteran .
of the jehovah's witness who just moved in.
I want one of those t-shirts too drahcir!
Blood is prescribed by licensed physicians as well ;)
I am willing to bet that if I went to a doctor and said, "I'm always
depressed and it won't go away"; they would do some token blood
work and give me a prescription ASAP weather I had the problem or
not.

First, some background info:
My mother is a 4 meeting a week, no field service, 26 year veteran
of the Jehovah's Witness who just moved in
with us shortly before her divorce was final with my dad.
She takes 4 different medications including the following:
(1) antidepressant
(1) antipsycotic
(1) sleeping prescription
(1) thyroid prescription
She can't hold a job, listens in on all of our phone calls, can't
be left alone, has to have us constantly around her, but she
insists on "Relying on Jehovah" while taking all her precious meds.
The local elders are no help because they are encouraging her to
continue with her meds and sign up for social security and all the
welfare benefits that she can get. One of the elders is on meds
and S.S. too.
He informed Mom that if she needs help figuring out the "system",
that he would be glad to help, because
he knows of a lawyer that "never looses these cases".
So, to make a long story short. I went to www.watchtower.org to
see what their views on meds are.
Guess what? They don't have any.
With such a high incidence of pill poppers in the organization,
what can they say? They've already taken away Christmas, Birthdays,
Thanksgiving, Easter, Oral Sex, bible debate, free will...the list goes
on and on.
Surely they wouldn't take away the MEDS too!!!
Why not just let them smoke pot while they're at it. From what I've
read the side effects from what she is taking are far worse than
"over the curb" drugs.
You'll love this. The side effects are as follows:
-shuffling of feet and slowed walking pace
-blurred vision
-anxiety? (isn't that what we are trying to treat here?)
-lack of emotion
I would be pleased to see what the WTBS view on medication is.
There was an article on their website that talked about the dangers
of taking an aspirin a day.
Good start!
