21 April 2011 was judgment day...
by losthobbit insorry if anyone's already posted this, but i thought it's important to point out that 21st of april 2011 was judgement day.. http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/2011/04/21.
in case anyone missed the end of the world, that's because it happened "invisibly".... guess that means i can stop believing in terminator prophecies and enjoy the rest of my life... party on!.

Dammit! I missed Judgement day again... was out surfing.
Of course when the next season comes out they'll say it happened invisibly... nah, too many intelligent people out there.

RATM seems to be more anti the mind control of US Government and anti-war... and witnesses are anti-governments and anti-war as well, arent they?
JW's could use RATM songs as hymns... "Bowing down to the flag... you got a bullet in your head..."

A reason christs ransom makes no sense to me
by Aussie Oz indo you remember the old jeff bridges film ''the last starman''?.
basic theme was an extra terestrial energy life transmogrified into a human and impregnated a woman with a seed that would become the savior of humanity.. hollywood is an old hand at using good v evil sort of messages that have ideoligical ties to the bible and the 'need' for mankind to be saved from themselves.. what gets me about this particular film is that the savior to come was there for all humanity.
no conditions were placed on how many from what nations could benefit, nor was salvation only for those who 'believed' or were smart enough to read visions or hidden messages etc.

Of course. The only reason I can think for anyone to have to tell you to "believe" and "have faith" in something, or else die, is to scare you into believing something for which there is no evidence, because it is not true.
Deist Oz... tell me about this god you believe in... what's he like, and what does he do? What is his goal?

Quick Question (or two, or three)...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
although i realize the responses may not be "quick", a response on another thread prompts me to ask:.
"what do you mean by "spiritual"?

I haven't read all of the comments... but just a quick thought: Not believing in God doesn't mean not believing in spirits.

I don't know how to appreciate poetry, nor the rude, angry style, but agree with him... I do :)

What is the soul?
by losthobbit inhaving been religious i often searched for evidence agreeing with my point of view.
i have since left my religion, because of the vast amount of evidence against it, but there are still two concepts that boggle my mind: the beginning of time, and the soul.. my understanding of what the soul is, is not a ghost that floats around, scaring people at night.
it is you, the thing that makes you alive, that allows you to experience pain and happiness, and differentiates you from a robot.. perhaps you're believe that pain and happiness are merely electrical signals travelling around in your brain, which i think is partly correct, but i will share some examples as to why i think it isn't that simple.. i don't think of humans as being their bodies.

Hi Maksym
You asked if I understood what you wrote.
I understood some of it... probably easiest if I tell you what I didn't understand:
I don't understand the ranking system, why certain creatures are ranked above others, nor why it matters in a discussion about the soul.
I should probably tell you, before you start explaining further, that when it comes to important topics I only trust books, people and thoughts for which there is enough evidence, or reasoning. For that reason I distrust the bible, and am more interested in logical reasoning / explanations, like what I wrote right up at the top of this thread.
Anyway, I did ask this in a Jehovah's Witness forum, so I did expect some answers to come from the bible
