On another note, were the posts cleared out since I was here last? A database reset or something? I am sad to not be able to find any of the posts that I was involved in before. Am I not searching correctly?

Hello all,
Some of you may remember me from last year, but probably not. It's been several months since I've looked here, and a lot of things look better.
I just wanted to say thanks for all the help that I got, and hope to be here more soon.

p.s. - I'm still looking, but I've lost my fever about it.
every now and again there is a post that just pulls the rug out from underneath me, and touches a place in my heart.
lauralisa on another thread has accomplished this.
by others who have replied, i can see that they were touched as well.
Thank you both very much for that post. It was quite needed.

i had to take a mental and emotional break for a while so i haven't been around much, but here is what has led to my newest thoughts.. wt 8/1/01 pg.14 par.8.
"8 first, since "oneness" is to be observed, a mature christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned.
he does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it cmoes to bible understanding.

WT 8/1/01 pg.14 par.8
"8 First, since "oneness" is to be observed, a mature Christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned. He does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it cmoes to Bible understanding. Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth as it is revealed by jehovah God through his Son, Jesus Christ, and "the faithful and discreet slave." By regularly takin in the spiritual food provided "at the proper time" - through Christian publications, meetings, assemblies, and conventions - we can be sure that we maintain "oneness" with fellow Christians in faith and knowledge. - Matthew 24:45"
Rom. 14:1 - NWT
"Welcome the [man] having weaknesses in [his] faith, but not to make decisions on inward questionings."
This is just another thing for me to try and reconcile/accept. WT says no personal opinions, Bible says leave someone elses inward thoughts alone.
Just interesting.

there are some really weird and interesting names on this site.
just out of interest, lets swap details of how we selected our chosen "stage name", it could be fun!.
i chose "englishman" when i first started to lurk at h20.
I just turned 22, and am now looking for answers. Or maybe I'm looking for better questions. Some things made me start looking first, and most importantly at myself, and my family. Then I started looking at my God, and finally my religion. I think that it's time for a break though, all of this looking has made me quite tired in many ways.
Looking Now (that I'm) 22
p.s. - I wish that I hadn't waited this long to start looking.
international of course:.
dave allen, irish standup (sit down drinking whisky actually).
bill cosby, love that fat albert.
I've got to say Steven Wright also. One of my favorite things is his cameo in "So I Married an Axe Murderer".
"That's the artificial horizon, it's better than the actual horizon."

did anyone lose beloved family members or friends to death while in the org?
if so, how did you feel about it once you came out of the cult and figured out that everything you'd been taught about the new system coming soon, and loved ones being resurrected was a big fat lie you'd been spoonfed?
how did you feel and react to that?.
Oh man...I may have to violently vent more about this later.
It'll be ten years in October since my older brother died in a car accident. This has been my "carrot" since I was 12. There's too much to say about this right now, but I can say that mine, and my family's lives have been entirely shaped by this. I have no idea what to think right now about it, and that's hurts more than anything, even knowing that JW's aren't the "truth". I'll have to settle down and put a few things in words in the Personal Experiences section soon. Keep your chin up, whatever the hell good that will do.

i have been having some pretty irrational thoughts lately.. its only been 3 months since we decided it is not the "truth".
but sometimes i think we (my family) would have been better off if we had stayed inactive witnesses.
the strain affects the whole family.. sometimes it feels like my whole world has fallen apart.
Just take it one day at a time, that's all I know.
