i rented "last days" by gus van sant today.

kurt cobain killed himself when i was in grade 11. i am sure i was his biggest fan.

his death had a big effect on me.. i have been waiting for this movie for 11 years.

I recently watched "Elephant", another Gus Van Sant film, for the first time. The experience of following the students down the hallways of the school had echoes of DOOM, the game said to have been favored by the Columbine killers -- did it symbolize labyrinthine paths we must all take, finding our way towards the center and back out again -- or does the labyrinth become a trap? It leaves you with so much to ponder on so many levels. The film was simply mesmerizing.

my mom called me while i was at work today and told me that two people from my old congregation died in september.

i guess it was "national" news but it flew over my head.

drew and brent speedie were jehovah's witnesses that went to my old congregation and although they weren't "popular" or well known, i got to know them pretty well.

As I was reading the comments from those who knew him I began to see that he was quite a remarkable fellow, as was his son. My sincerest condolences to those they left behind.(())

i watched it last night..... ya know.......... it took place over 1000 yrs after christ, and here we are 1000 yrs later... all the centuries of faith and dying "for god" or in the name "of god" whichever religion you may be and we're supposed to believe that jesus is coming again?

um i might be an awful person for having such thoughts but hey jesus, your and mohammeds last visits caused a shitload of problems on the earth, if you come again, be better preprared this time k?

the more i learn, the less i know.. where to begin?.

there is this elusive thought, a star in which i can touch with my fingertips but just can grasp it, evertime my process of understanding of a situation unfolds...it disappears into a sea of apathy.. there is a common link with all humanity.

i knew how cold the water was, as i had been in the day before.

if i had gone in i woudn't have been able to take photos though.

The Demise Of 1874

russell held that christ's return was realized in 1874. we also know that this date was moved forward by 40 years, to 1914 during the rutherford presidency.

the dishonesty of the society in printing things that either openly state, or strongly imply that a 1914 parousia is what the bible students taught from the very beginning has been the subject of discussion lately.

i think what is far less clear is when and how this change from 1874 to 1914 actually happened.

i think most of us at some time have had the experience of overhearing a conversation while travelling, or in a coffee shop, and realizing that we are listening to a crafty jw in the middle of preaching.

you know the type of thing, "wont it be nice when god steps in and clears up all these problems", problems incidentally that they have just spent the past thirty minutes listing to their hapless listeners in morbid detail.

no-one cherishes their collection of grim news quite like a jw.
