i recently moved back to my home town after being away for several years and doing the "fade".

i have family still in, so people heard that i was back in town.

i got six invitations to the memorial and a couple of phone calls about the special talk.

They dont need much to move against you any more. Conduct unbecoming a Christian...an arbitrary accusation...they use all the time. Or ...a danger to the flock...or apostate behavior...whatever happened to the "two witness" rule anyway? Which they apparently only apply to cases of MOLESTATION these days.

They cant DF you for not answering the door to UNINVITED people. How would these clowns like it if you went to THEIR homes and repeatedly beat on the door? If they are going to DA or DF you for not attending meetings then they need to do that across the BOARD to all people who are not attending meetings.

Dont answer the door. Just dont. Its your door. I think your relatives put them up to this. Usually the elders dont take this much time to pursue wandering sheep. You might say to your JW relatives that you have had a lot of unwanted "sheparding calls" lately and you appreciate everyone's concern, but that your issues are personal and you would appreciate everyone respecting your wishes that you not be bothered at your home which only makes matters worse.

It is not LOVING to beat someone over the head when theyre down and out and thats what they are doing.

i can't find the exact quote (i'll keep looking) but charles swindoll said of church discipline "we're the only outfit i know of that shoots its own wounded.

i think that is a very apt way to say what jw's do.

about twenty years ago a relative was diagnosed as bipolar.

several months ago, our son informed us that he has been studying with the jw's (his wife being one), and that he will eventually be joining the b. anyway, he just told us a few days ago that he is accepting another job.

this new job will be 8:00 to 5:00 monday thru friday.

after we hung up, i got to thinking.....hmmm, so when is he going to have time to go door-knocking??

My husband once studied with a guy who was doing it to "get the girl". He studied like twice a week and was baptized within six months. Fast tracked. He and she ran right out and got a ring and she plops down in the hall next to me one day and is showing me this engagement ring and I said..."Oh...I didnt know your ex had remarried?" She said...oh no he didnt. I said oh so you know he is having an affair? Shes like oh no...I havent seen him in a couple years. So I bit the bullet. "You really arent free to remarry are you Tina?" And she just laughed!

They not only were married but soon afterwards BOTH of them were disfellowshipped and he wasnt even dry behind the ears. Her bride price was his baptizm. He was humiliated and furious with her. They got an annulment and he never spoke to her again. She somehow forgot to tell this poor schlub that she COULDNT marry him!

She finally passed away

my brother called me yesterday from california and told me his dear wife had finally passed away at 9:40 pst.

she fought long and hard and didnt go easily into the night.

if god wanted her home she wasnt going to go without a fight!

She was only 44 in February.

Thank you all again. :) I noticed one of the advertisements on this page shows a PBS special on the Mormons. I think I will watch it. For all their foibles, the Mormons appear to be extremely family oriented and my brother has never been happier than he has been since becoming one.

My brother called me yesterday from California and told me his dear wife had finally passed away at 9:40 PST. She fought long and hard and didnt go easily into the night. If God wanted her Home she wasnt going to go without a fight! She is being laid to rest on May 4. It is a sad time...but she isnt suffering any more and finally her family and my brother can start to heal and live and move forward...which Im positive is what she wanted for them to do.

I've soooooo had it

this should be a proud and happy time in my life as a mom.

:( on top of everything else in my life these days...im in the process of planning a sweet sixteen party for my little girl for may 12, and my oldest son graduates from high school on may 18 followed by a party i am trying to have for him on may 26 followed by my daughter's four dance company recitals the weekend of june 1. also my youngest sons birthday is this sunday..... so...i spent days designing and mailing out gorgeous graduation invitations to everybody i know and all our wacked relatives.

i wrote to the jws in advance and asked if they would please put their differences aside for one night to celebrate my son's achievements.

I read all your wonderful posts and after getting a decent night's sleep...I decided to be more proactive about this. I called my mother in law and she was only trying to NOT cause a disturbance to ruin my sons party by not coming and I told her that under NO conditions was she to NOT attend this party because of the skewed opinions of a lot of self righteous zealots! My children love her love her love her...and if given the choice of Grandma P or the ever absent JW relatives and cousins whom they NEVER see...Grandma wins hands down! So I convinced her to make her plane reservation and she WILL BE coming! Anybody else who has a problem with that is welcome to hit the door or just stay home. I went today and bought the supplies I need to make the centerpieces for the tables. I bought the serving pan sets and sterno and I ordered the tables and chairs with beautiful royal blue, black and silver linens.

SO THERE! Im gonna enjoy this party. Period...end of discussion.

I love you guys...Ive had a bitch of a week here and you helped me sooooo much!

So...I spent DAYS designing and mailing out gorgeous graduation invitations to everybody I know and all our wacked relatives. I wrote to the JWs in advance and asked if they would please put their differences aside for one night to celebrate my son's achievements. My son wants to be with the ones he loves...and I hoped that wasnt too much to ask. Well...apparently it is. I never heard back from my JW relatives...not a yes not a no...nothing. My mother in law who is DAd like me...and married to a JW elder...was so excited to come down and see her grandkids and stuff and now writes me to say she wont be coming because it would "cause problems with P and her family and your husband if I came". And my husbands oldest non-JW brother wont come because the JWs are shunning my mother in law so HE and his wife wont come either. And now my sister and mother arent coming because they "just spent all their money going to see C and his dying wife" so THEY arent coming...that I understood...but now NONE of my relatives are coming. NONE Im just soooo fed up with all these egos who cant fucking PARK IT AT THE DOOR for one night!!!! And Im having it at my sister in laws house becuase mine is under construction and SHE is in the process of a divorce so her EX isnt coming and its his weekend with the kids so the KIDS arent coming and his two adult children whom I have known since they were in 6th grade wont come because they side with their DAD in the divorce and therefore their SPOUSES and their KIDS arent coming either....

I could cry...I have shingles...my stomach is upset 24/7 and I cant sleep.

God please make it be mid June and all this be over. :(

because of one instance that i heard about last year from a friend of mine, i am concerned that this may be something the society is encouraging and may encourage even more as the new private issue of the wt begins to be released.

Some people leave their entire estates to their cats. Some just dont want their greedy good for nothing kids to get it. It would be a hard row to hoe reversing that kind of decision I think. Least of all would they want their apostate opposer relatives to get their hands on it.

If somebody was tithing to a church or the hall for years and years youd be hard pressed to say that their giving to that organization was suddenly an unsound decision if nobody ever questioned it before.

When we moved from Ill to FLA in 99 I was getting our taxes done and discovered that before we left my husband had written a check for $1000 to the Kingdom Hall from our business account which he controlled and had hidden from me. We didnt have a POT TO PISS IN and were behind on our mortgage andhaving to borrow from my father which was humiliating ...and something my father NEVER forgot he "did for me"...and it turns out I never HAD to borrow from him...my JW husband was feeling "guilty" because we had just built a new hall and he wouldnt be around to give to it. Or so he SAID followed by "its none of your fucking business that I gave to the Hall."

Yeah...a huge bone of contention, Im sure for MANY.

it's really great to be back on here, i've missed you all so much.

i'm home for the weekend, and feeling a lot better than i was earlier in the week.

i picked up an infection and felt really awful for a day or two, but it's ok now.
