Oh that was so wonderful to read!!! Bless you both! On my first xmas with the kids, I had to do it all myself because my husband was still a JW and I was frantic! The neighbors around me found out I was doing my first xmas and they brought over little things from their collections to get us started, a little ceramic village, ornaments, a little "Charlie Brown" imitation tree to start with, and bells for my door....people are wonderful. A lady from online whom I had also never met, heard I was looking for a particular toy for my little girl and couldnt find it anywhere. She went and bought it personally and shipped it to me at great expense to herself. Honestly...I was so ashamed at having been a JW and treated "worldly" people with such hatred. Shame on me.

by NeonMadman in.
after the battlefield that the last thread on this subject turned into, i'm almost afraid to post this, but it would be nice to see how many of you i might expect to see this weekend.. wnfj is the original ex-jw convention; this weekend (oct. 18-20) will be the 24th year.it is definitely christian in orientation, and features, music, prayer and talks on a variety of topics relating to jw's and biblical christianity.

Musings on Children, Ex-JW Wars, & Truth
by Perry inmusings on children, ex-jw wars, & truth seeking
i think that children represent a real and credible threat to the wt.
children by nature are inquisitive and require explanations, which requires two way communication.

I think maybe this whole thing might come back on YOU and your family...JWs or not...for not checking on the old guy yourselves. You can try to explain that he was a JW and wouldnt talk to you but I think that would fall on deaf ears if they asked you why YOU couldnt talk to HIM. Yknow? The place was designed for independent living within a community, and my guess is they dont check on everybody everyday. Yes...you have a right to be angry. But who knows how long the old guy would have laid there if he had to wait for his own family to find him you know?
Id drop it.

Christmas Aint Jesus's Birthday
by comforter injesus was not born on december 25. that is not his birthday.
why is this day observed as jesus's birthday?
because some christians thought it was fine to mingle christianity with paganism.

"Even though Christmas is not the real anniversary of our Lord's
birth, but more properly the annunciation day or the date of his human
begetting (Luke 1:28), nevertheless, since the celebration of our Lord's
birth is not a matter of divine appointment or injunction, but merely a
tribute of respect to him, it is not necessary for us to quibble
particularly about the date. We may as well join with the civilized world
in celebrating the grand event on the day which the majority celebrate -
'Christmas day.'" {WT Dec 1 1904 364}Then...the wolves turn on each other:
1989 "In the early part of our 20th century prior to 1919, the Bible
Students, as Jehovah's Witnesses were then known, had to be released from
a form of spiritual captivity to the ideas and practices of false
religion. Although having rejected such false teachings as the Trinity and
immortal soul, they were still tainted by Babylonish practices. Many had
developed a self-righteous attitude in character development. Some were
exalting creatures, indulging in a personality cult that focused on
Charles T. Russell, the first president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract
Society. Without any Biblical basis, they were observing birthdays and
Christmas. the cross was still prominent in their thinking. Some even wore
a cross-and-crown lapel emblem, while others sought the respectability
accorded Christendom." {WT May 1 1989 3}Being as the Society was celebrating Christmas and birthdays when Christ came in 1918 to choose the JWs as his CHOSEN ONES....just what the HELL was he thinking choosing these PAGANS?? They were in fact continuing to celebrate Christmas into the 30s.

About 5 years ago, my nonJW sister in law had some miscarriages and was desperate to have a child. Since she didnt have a problem getting pregnant but rather carrying, I offered to surrogate for her using invetro of her egg and her husbands sperm. I was already out of the org. When my JW husband found out I had offered to do that for his sister he was furious because I "hadnt asked him". Well...they dont ALLOW that since my carrying somebody elses baby would be considered adultery and I was determined to help her if I could. Why would I bother to ask him if I already knew the answer? I wonder if having sex with a turkey baster is a disfellowshipping offense too? :)

First they will have a prayer and then a team of brothers in jockey shorts will be assigned to strip search ALL other participants for cell phones, recording bugs, microphones, 007 transmitting watches, and fillings that pick up secret Watchtower encoded messages....so they dont have another debacle like at LAST years where every word and every fart hit the internet before they hit their cars :)
