Double Life
by restorebeauty in.
when a witness is leading a double life, are they really leaning toward not believing in the "truth" and just staying in for family and friends sake or do they really believe it is the "truth" but just want to have a little fun?.
i have a friend who says he is "in" just because he goes to meetings of sundays, however during the week you would not believe it if he told you he was a witness.. just curious..

I believe that the majority of them lead a double life...some very EXTREME double lives, but most live that "kingdom hall" persona just when they are in the JW activities and then they have to let go of it to live the rest of the time. Who can sustain that joy joy happy happy crap 100% of the time?? Youd have to be certifiable to be like that all the time.

Do you Christmas shop early or last minute?
by orangefatcat ini love to christmas shop, but i have to admit it i am one who kind of leaves things to the last month.
but i feel the adrenalin rush more and it gets me in the spirit of things faster.
but i love to decorate early.

I have found that there are some good deals early. Like the catalogs offer "no shipping" deals and the decorations go on sale early...I like to also shop in January after the holidays for the next year :) Especially for things like wrapping paper, bows and cards. Cheap cheap!! I get a charge out of shopping for my kids. I anticipate what reaction they will have when opening things :) My 7 year old is easy...my tween girl wants SOME toys but SOME clothes and hell I dont know WHAT to do with my 14 year old boy...everything at that age costs major BUCKS!!

What an excellent letter! If I was that elder, Id be pissing my pants.
1925 "Based upon the argument heretofore set forth, then, that the old
order of things, the old world, is ending and is therefore passing away,
and that the new order is coming in, and that 1925 shall mark the
resurrection of the faithful worthies of old and the beginning of
reconstruction, it is reasonable to conclude that millions of people now
on the earth will be still on the earth in 1925. Then, based upon the
promises set forth in the divine Word, we must reach the positive and
indisputable conclusion that millions now living will never die." {MLND
97}
1925 "The period must end in 1925. The type ending, the antitype must
begin; and therefore 1925 is definitely fixed in the scriptures. every
thinking person can see that a great climax is at hand. The Scriptures
clearly indicate that the climax is the fall of Satan's empire and the
full establishment of the Messianic kingdom. This climax being reached by
1925, and that marking the beginning of the fulfillment of the long
promised blessings of life to the people, millions now living on earth
will be living then and those who obey the righteous laws of the new
arrangement will live forever. Therefore it can be confidently said at
this time that millions now living will never die." {GA Jan 4 1922 217} -

Help Please, for a friend in crisis (non JW)
by home_and_dry inthis is totally non-jw related, but i have a close friend who is in turmoil at the moment and there are lots of great people here who are good with advice so any help would be appreciated.
my friend, who ill refer to as katie has just found out some shocking info about her past.
katies mum has been an alcoholic for about 15 years.

Im no geneticist, but I think she would only be able, even if she had grandpas dna, to prove that he was related to her...which he was...and that that wouldnt necessarily prove he was her father. The grandfathers brothers would only prove the same thing...that Katie has her grandfathers dna..which she should. I dont think without something from the actual father that you can disprove the situation. Shes not going to have two headed kids tho...I believe there have been studies about "close family interrelations" and havent found anything that would show a higher occurence of birth defects from it.
Little consolation considering what the poor girl has had to deal with. She needs to see some GOOD therapists and surround herself with people who love her. Post haste.
