  i know from my own experience that i would be a total f**k up, i would have taken the entire family into the borg, after my guilt after leaving this several years ago i am totally grateful to her for the rejection of my previous beliefs, i would have subjected the children to all the self esteem eroding ideas of a few old men in the governing body!.

  i think i'm probably now a humanist, with respect for the here and now and trying to cope with the idea that people don't live forever as i see it in my weekend job of working in a nursing home, and feeling utter disgust at the governing bodies ideas at immortality which were totally wrong!.

  i think it was robin williams that said if women were in control there would be no wars but intense negotiations every thirty days, lol.

  I have a question on the Circuit Accounts Scam thread

  i didn't want it to get buried and i'd really like to know.. so i knew pretty much what he was saying was true, but what i don't get is how the creative accounting works.. i mean you have to show expenses on the ledger - and i mean real expenses, like the co/do expenses along with receipts.. you have actual costs for the power coming into the building.

  the paper supplies and cleaning supplies.

  the vacuum cleaners and mops and other sundry items, and you have to have receipts for all that.. i also know that when you made a "donation" it was off the books at the circuit level as far as accounts were concerned.. but how is money not being accounted for?.

  The money is used to pay any actual expenses and then any left over is sent to the WT HQ, the circuit or district doesn't keep it to defray next years costs or for cicuit needs. If they need it back, they have to ask permission from the WT.

  In fact, the congregations are now doing this. They have operating expenses (which are itemized but the average R&F publisher cannot see). Any left over monies at the end of each month is transferred to the WT, if the congregation needs any of it back, they have to ask permission.

  As it was, it looked to me more like "projected deficits" based on "projected expenses" and when it all evened out everything got accounted for.

  Here's how it works. The deficits aren't deficits based on actual bills. The deficit is based on a per publisher rate predetermined before the convention ever starts. Because the deficit exists BEFORE the convention starts and is predetermined, there is NO matching the monies received with expenses incurred. Imagine it this way, you asked me how much the trip to NY to see the Big 4 would cost and I said "About $1200 for the flight, tickets, room and food". Well, what my buddy doesn't know is that because I am frequent flier and hotel stayer I got our flights and room for next to nothing but I based the rate on what it would cost in the real world. Since I never matched the monies he gave me with what I spent, I come out way ahead, scamming my friend.

  The WT does the same thing. They NEVER say "here are what the actual expenses incurred and what you donated." They give the calculated expense cost up front and give the deficit before they are done counting the 3 bags of cash in the back room with two grand in it.

  AND they do this for assembly halls that they own that we built AND donated the money for. We already paid for it once, built it, and now, when we (well, not ME anymore) want to use it, they charge us rent using the same pre-calculated method where ACTUAL expenses are completely divorced from ACTUAL income.

  If you don't believe me, ask someone in accounting to see a balance sheet with actual expenses and actual income for the assembly about two weeks after the assembly is over. By then the bills should all be in and the income accounted for.

  Hint, you will never see it. I am sure they have it internally, but YOU will never see it because then you would know how they run a deficit before they ever even book the facility.

  i believe the wts has completely misapplied matthew 24:1-35. .

  i believe the scripture is quite clear that jesus was speaking to his own generation and not some obscure future or 1914 generation.. if you happen to be a jw and/or futurist, what makes you believe jesus was talking about events that would transpire in the 20th/21st century?.

  I need advice/help. From those with teens to 'save' and from any teens on here too.

  i need some advice and help.. there is going to be a 'shit fight at the it's not ok correl' soon, i know it.. many are aware of my efforts to rescue my kids from the evilness that is the wt.

  i am reaching my daughter and hearing things that are disturbing to me.

  today i found out that she has doubts about the jws (partly due to me) and says its because she has found out they lie and some things dont add up.

  Do it. Square it away with the lawyers first, get the paperwork in order. Once that's done, pick her up. Stop by the store for a Coke or a bottle of water, call her mom and inform her of the change, the steps that were take and that the official paperwork from the lawyers and courts is on it's way to be delivered.

  yes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.

  i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.

  as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

  Let's do the quick math. Back in my day, Assemblies with over 8000 people were very common. Assuming the average family size of 2.5 kids plus two parents, that about 1777 families, let's presume only the family head is donating, so averaging the $20 and $10 donators, that $15. Given that some won't donate at all, we split the difference and assume each FAMILY is giving $12.5 dollars. 1777 families x $12.5 per family = a cool $22000 per 3 day weekend.
