Yes . . . the concept of God is wholly reliant on the mysterious . . . the unexplained/unexplainable. That's why the concept embraces new understanding and contantly corrects itself. It must always be in harmony with contemporary understanding, but continue to be explained by the inexplicable . . . maintaining it's residency in the house of mystery.
i have been reading ashley judd's 'all things bitter and sweet' autobiography, and it has exhausted me.
she paints a picture of neglect and abuse from early childhood on.
as i sat reading, i realised i was identifying with so much of what she wrote.. why, when having an emotional breakdown as a teenager, major obsessive compulsive disorder, obvious depression symptoms, would you refuse to get medical help for your child?

I know that feeling of not being believed or valued. It's as bad, possibly worse, than the abuse itself. It's a terribly lonely place when the one source you thought you could always trust, thought you could always rely on, just isn't there when you need it most. That too is not your fault, and not your burden to carry. But as the book also tells you . . . you are not alone . . . in time you will shed this weight and refreshment will follow. Best wishes.

i understand oregon is getting dumped on, up to a foot of rain in some areas, but we're closer to the southern end of the storm and they say we're just getting a few inches.. anway, isn't rain glorious?

Some don't like the idea of God's omniscience. But that doesn't change if He is or not. . . . CA
I like the idea of God's omniscience, and agree he wouldn't be God without it.
And while it may not prove or disprove his existence, it reveals enough about his character, for me to utterly reject him, whether real or not.

so for those that have been keeping up: i have recently become fascinated with the lost gospels as well as the history of the four cannon gospels (matthew, mark, luke, and john) and as some may say the "historical jesus".. i am fascinated by the variations in who jesus was and what he did according to different traditions and texts.
one thing that provoked me the other day is that the coptics/gnostics do not believe jesus "died for our sins".
which explains why an i have never been accosted infront of my favorite drinking hole my a glassy eyed 20 year old with a pamphlet in their hand asking if i am "saved".. so this got me thinking..... i don't recall jesus ever claiming to have to die for our sins in matthew, mark, luke or john either?
