Since the time I finally rejected Christianity (initially on a philosophical ground, then scientific, then historical) -- I've always wondered about the motive of those who were responsible for the creation of the myth. Was it deception for personal gain?

Jesus Myth?
by ISP inin all the years i was a christian minister, i never preached a sermon about the evidence for a historic jesus.
there was no need for such a sermon.
i stood before many congregations and associated with many ministers, evangelists and pastors, and not one of us ever spoke about the possibility that jesus was a fable, or that his story is more myth than history.

Salvia Divinorum Anyone?
by Valis inhas anyone else tried salvia?
i recently tried this herb, which is a member of the sage family, via smoking it.
i must say that it is a psychedellic not for the faint of heart or one who fears the loss of control for several minutes at a time.

My girlfriend and I tried salvia a couple of times. Smoked it, chewed it, but neither of us really got much sensation, which is a shame 'cause I was expecting this Pink-Floyd-weird-out-of-body-experience trip. Maybe I just needed a higher concentration. It was kind of distasteful too, so I didn't care to do much of it.

The Simpsons is one of the greatest programs ever.
Dr. Nick Riviera : [Singing while operating on Homer] The kneebone's connected to the... something. The something's connected to the... red thing. The red thing's connected to my wrist watch. ...Uh oh.
Homer: I'm not normally a religious man, but if you're up there, save me, Superman!
Homer: If you're gonna have to get mad at me everytime I do stupid things, I'm just gonna have to stop doing stupid things!

Creationism being reintroduced in schools
by pettygrudger inatlanta, georgia (cnn) -- a suburban atlanta school board thursday night voted unanimously to allow teachers to introduce students to different views about the origins of life.
the cobb county board of education, the state's second-largest school board, approved the policy change after limited discussion, calling it a "necessary element of providing a balanced education.
the board's vote drew cheers from some and expressions of dismay from others in the packed meeting room.

Evolution cannot and has never been proven in an uncontrolled enviroment.
The fact that speciation (creation of new species through existing ones) occurs pretty much proves evolution. Although it does not prove what scale that can go to.
After all, evolution does teach that order came from chaos, and not the other way around, because if it did that would signify intellegent design.
Whose to say you cannot have both intelligent design and evolution?
Science is Big Brother.
I take it you're opposed to learning knowledge?

The biggest argument against the Trinity is the silence on the subject in Scripture.
The primary source of Christians was initially the Jewish people, strict monotheists. Such a drastic alteration in belief such as the Trinity would have brought about a tremendous controversy between the Jews and Christians. Not only converts, but Jewish enemies of Christianity would have seized upon this, possibly by iterating OT scripture that says 'God is one'. Paul argues on and on about resurrection and sin and atonement, yet this doctrine is left essentially obscureby the NT authors -- not one of them elaborates on this fundamental doctrine of Christianity!
I suppose I'm just taking issue with how Christians can claim God is one and yet three, when no Scripture says that.

"there are religious groups -- the jehovah's witness, i believe -- who think it's a sin to have a blood transfusion.
well, what if the president for some reason decided to listen to them, instead of to the catholics, which is the group he really listens to in making his decisions about embryonic stem cell research?

As far as the definition of life goes, I thought everything from a bacterium to a human was considered "alive," from my high school biology. Viruses were somewhat questionable. Being alive does not alone constitute a human being though, especially given that a single cell is not a human being -- yet.
