Jesus, a follower of a Pagan Custom?

hard as i tried, i could not find any reference to baptism in the ot (old testament to christians, hebrew scriptures to jovah's witless).. i know that previous to john the baptist, many religions, mysteries and cults baptized their initiates mostly either in blood, or in water.

never the jews at that time or now.

for the remision of sins, they just sent a goat to the desert.. jesus did not obviously start the baptism thing.

Star of Bethlehem

the wts has claimed that this star obviously was a product of satan, since the astrolgers first wound up in jersusalem, met herod, who conspired with them to locate the baby.

after that, the astrologers continued on to bethlehem.. a couple of questions:.

I just can't see Satan advertising for free the birth of the Messiah. If he wanted him dead, why not send some demons to possess some pigs to trample the manger or something?

wiith all this stuff about the star i noticed one thing no one mentions.

1) mary and joseph are not said to have turned down the gifts. so they must have excepted them.
they excepted rich gifts from magi.

2) jehovah warned the magi .did he didnt kill them ? did he reduce them" evil" astrologers to a pile of ashes? or open up the earth and swallow them?

amazing really isnt it.wheres the holy anger? and the comdemnation ?and the destruction of evil doers????.......they worshped his son .they gave him gifts ..then god warned them for his sons saftey. not to tell herod where he was and they didnt.yes the astrologers did what god said ..and there was me thinking only jehovahs witnesses or the bibles true worshippers of god (same thing )did what was right.

and then those darn magi go and throw a spaner in the works ..how dare they get a dream from god like other faithfull ppl whe the WTS gets nothing .how dare he be nice ot them and except there gifts ...or even have magi gifts prophecised about is the bible .hehehehehehehehe. wohhh

if jehovah ever joined the WTS he wouldnt last long he'd be out on his ear with all that softy liberal stuff.

ive got a question though.

QUESTION :.if the magi gifts were prophcised(i know its splet wrong but im tired) in the bible then does this mean god new that satan wwould stick a light up in the sky to point to his son??so if the star was wrong how can the gifts be part of a prohecy that shows his kingship.

surely its good then that the star came or we'd have ben up the khyber with no paddles and no magi for jesus big entrance ??

i tend to believe that god does hear prayers, he can ansure them in other planes of time that we don't understand and that we will be in latter in our life or possibly in some other dimension.

i do not think he gives us dead air space after we speak to him.

our request have far reaching implications for us beyond what can understand in our time line that we are living presently.

no ..but i visited lots of chat rooms and i have seen quite a few bros /sis pass through preaching.they often get shouted down or called names by ppl and thats just the christian rooms lol.

if you don't know the history of the WTS and the changeing light etc.they actually make the most sense and are polite and more informed than a lot of christians on the net .this is compard to a room of christians telling non belivers or people who dont belive in exactly the same way as them, that there gonna burn in hell fire forever and then they'll be sorry for not listening to that individiauls opinion on what the bible means.

its pretty dam scary out there incyberxian land . the WTs is begining to seem pretty normal lol

i do from time to time, i love music you can take any key and there will be a kingdom song that starts with it.

that is how i learned how to play a harmonica was by remembering the tunes of jehovah's witness's.

Did doctrine matter to you? Does it matter to most dubs now?

minimus started a great thread a few days ago asking what was "it" that finally made you leave the "truth"?.

the replies showed that, for the most part, it was the unloving, uncaring attitude displayed by most of the 'brothers & sisters' - elders particularly.

some posters even made the point that this lack of love drove them out despite them harbouring fears that they might actually be leaving the truth.
